Re: Blu-ray You Last Bought/Watched
Watched my favourite Bruce Lee flick last night: Fist of Fury (originally called The Chinese Connection in the US).
If you ever wanted to know what a Chinese version of a Spaghetti Western looked like, this film is it. The story, the music, even the quick zoom camera work.
Still as good as I remember it when I was a kid.

Fist of Fury is a staple on Robert Rodriguez's El Rey network, I think it's been on every weekend for about two years now.

Picked up Night of the Creeps on Blu recently.
Watched it. Loved it!
The perfect blend of aliens, zombies, axe murders, college girl boobs, bad one-liners, flame throwers, and the nerdy hero getting the girl.
You can't ask for more in an 80's B movie.
It even had a dude named Biff.

Night of the Creeps is my favorite Fred Dekker movie.
He also directed The Monster Squad.

I, surprisingly, had never seen it before. Which is weird because it's definitely something I would have watched/liked as a kid.

Oh hell yeah I was a big Monster Squad fan as a kid and I watched my VHS copy until I couldn't any longer. One of the main characters was a 13 year old on a bike who chain smoked and he monster hunted with his friends and some shotguns, it was unlike any other horror movie I saw as a kid.

That actually sounds somewhat familiar. Maybe I have seen it. Blu-Ray is on the way.

It was one of those lesser known titles that would play on cable about once a decade. I discovered the VHS at the video store when I was about 8 or 9 and I kept the tape so long my parents had to buy it from the store. Revising it, I found that it wasn't the masterpiece that I remembered as a child but I still found it to still be incredibly amusing to the adult me and I still enjoyed it. Where else can you find characters named Fat Kid and Dr Acula?

Re: Blu-ray You Last Bought/Watched
So I picked up the extended edition Lord of the Rings trilogy on Blu-ray from Amazon recently during their Gold box deal of the day. Whole thing for under $30. Bargain.
I've never seen the extended editions, however tonight after watching the first movie Fellowship of the Ring I realise why I got rid of my original DVD's and never bought them again on Blu ...
This shit is fucking mind-numbingly boring.
I'm watching the scene where Gandalf dies, and it means nothing, but then there's this beautiful piece of music that follows which is fabulous. I remember the feeling it gave me last time I watched it. I remember back then searching for the song name, then I'm interrupted by Aragorn speaking, and it hits me .... the same thought I had back then ... Aragorn sounds like Kermit the Frog. Not exactly like Kermit, but Kermit-esque.
Getting through Two Towers and Return of the King is going to be a chore.

As soon as I started reading "I've never seen the extended editions" I immediately thought "If I know Rust, he'll fuckin hate em like I did" and then I got to the "mind-numbingly boring" part of your post, lol. Those movies are just so much walking and talking and the saga is what 13 hours of walking and talking and then like a half hour of goodbyes and 200 more hours of bonus features?
I'm a Viggo fan and yes those movies are thematically beautiful because of where they were shot but I watched them once when the extended releases first came out but I haven't seen em since and have no intention of buying, downloading or watching on cable. As you said, it's such a chore that I feel just overwhelmed at the thought of watching those movies again. I saw the first Hobbit movie but did not see either of the sequels because I began to feel the exact same overwhelming effect that the LOTR saga caused.

Hahaha. I still haven't seen the Hobbit trilogy. I was thinking this viewing might entice me to go and buy it. That won't be happening. Not sure how long it will take me to get to Two Towers.

Re: Blu-ray You Last Bought/Watched
So far this Black Friday week I got:
Warcraft $6.99
Hard Target 2 $7.88
Ratchet and Clank $7.88
Ip Man Trilogy $14.99
I might want to pick up some Van Damme collections. 13 movies for around $40. I also want My Cousin Vinny but it's lowest price last year was $4. It's $8 now and I refuse to pay that much!

Re: Blu-ray You Last Bought/Watched
Picked up a couple titles the other day. First time in a while.
The local retailer I buy from frequently has 20% off all Blu-Rays and DVD, and combined with their frequent "Buy 2 get 1 free" deals, I managed to get Supernatural S11, Banshee S4, and Big Bang Theory S9 for about $15 each (CW shows like SPN, Arrow, Flash usually retail for $50 when initially released).
I also grabbed my first 4K titles. No UHD player yet, but I couldn't resist. BvS - Ultimate Edition (Extended Cut), and Mad Max: Fury Road were part of a 2 for $30 deal. Add the 20% off, and I got them for $12 each

Re: Blu-ray You Last Bought/Watched
By the time I finally get anything 4K, it'll already be time for 8K. Tech is advancing faster than I care to adopt. I can't believe that 1080p Blu-Ray is already the past.

I don't think 8k will be something for home entertainment.
Cameras can capture in 8K, and it's a benefit to be able to capture that much detail, offering colourists etc so much more to work with to get a perfect image - but being able to then downscale that 8K footage to 4K or even 1080p makes it look stunning.

8K is kind of real, but only used to make 4K look better.
For Christmas I got The Big Bang Theory S9 and The Flash S2. I've watched all of BBT. Might start Flash soon.

Just got my copy of The Baytown Outlaws. Really excited and also really disappointed. Excited because I'm going to watch this over the weekend. Disappointed because it didn't come with a slipcover omg. Fuck this. Thinking about it makes me not want to watch this anymore. As I type this, my excitement is waning.
