That's what I'm talking about! The Joker is starting to emerge now. Good for you Leto, although it shouldn't have taken a role for you to cut it.

Better be darker than that. I don't have a lot of faith in Leto anyway though

Ok, because I was gonna say....

I agree, not dark enough. They might be trying out different greens to see what works on screen.
I think Leto is actually talented in the movies I've seen him in. But no matter how good you are, Joker is probably one of the hardest characters in the superhero genre.

Sadly, neither do I. But I have faith in what Snyder sees in his ability to pull it off.

I guess it's just me then. You can do it Leto! I BELIEVE IN YOU!
Not everyone will probably be satisfied like past performances on the character though.

Nicholson was the only live Joker performance in film I've ever enjoyed.

Really? I always hated it. Ledger sent that prick back to acting school.

Nicholson was actually played the Joker, Ledger was playing Tom Waits and I'll never move past that. I just simply did not see the Joker in that performance. I just saw another run of the mill lunatic with nothing special about him but a few scars.
Nicholson's performance was my introduction to The Joker since I was 4 at the time. I didn't know who he is and I loved that insane OTT performance because it fit what Burton had done. But do I still think it's amazing? No, but it was my first look at the Joker and he amused me for many years and when I started reading Batman as a kid I saw that saw hokey OTT craziness going on just like in the movie and then came the animated series. We tend to latch onto things easier as kids and it just stayed with me. I don't want that same OTT performance now as an adult I want The Killing Joke, that's what I'm looking for. However based on the haircut Leto is showing, I'm expecting Greg Capullo's Joker from Endgame.

New Details On Jared Leto's "Comedic" Take On 'The Joker' Emerge
Hollywood Life have some inside information on Jared Leto's preparations to play The Joker in David Ayer's Suicide Squad adaptation, which is gearing up to shoot in Toronto very soon. According to them, the actor is confident that his interpretation of the iconic Batman villain will be the "best yet", and he will do everything he can to set his Joker apart and not step on the toes of Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger's portrayals of the character.“He wants to make the character completely his own. He knows that this role may be his most difficult ever, but he is confident that he will make his version of the Joker the best. This Joker will be more cerebral and comedic than what we have seen before, nobody should expect a copycat version. It’s going to be awesome!”
Re: The Suicide Squad ($724,133,343)
If that's the route he takes I'm hoping for a voice closer to what Hamill did than Tom Waits.

Cerebral would be intellectual, meaning Joker will be as smart as he should be and Comedic would probably refer to the fact that Joker was always one for intelligent pranks. He's probably just a very smart and twisted individual who finds comedy in terror and death. Essentially cerebral and comedic are exactly what you'd want from The Joker.

Cool! I'd say Ledger's Joker was a little bit of that in the way he executed his evil plan of attacks.

Tom Waits with severe cotton mouth and an obsession with licking his mouth while talking was what I got out of it. But in all seriousness I don't hate Ledger, I thought he was a very talented actor long before he died, I simply just did not jump on his bandwagon post death because suddenly everybody felt that because he died it somehow made his performance that much betterl. When in reality he was already lost to his addictions and there was just no coming back. I don't watch that performance and think "Joker is really a tortured soul, Ledger was acting perfectly" when I see it I just feel pity for him. I'm hoping that with Leto's performance he can bring the fun back to Joker's crazy.

Kinnaman has confirmed he is Rick Flagg beating out Edgerton and Bernthal.

Apparently 'Antiphon' & His Onslaught Group Will Be The Main Villains
According to Latino review scooper El Mayimbe, David Ayer's Suicide Squad will be taking on Onslaught and their leader, Antiphon. In the comics these guys were a team of supervillians made up of various terrorists from Qurac (a fictional Middle Eastern Country in the DC Comics universe), and Greek team member Antiphon was a fairly minor character with super-speed powers -- but it sounds like there might be a few changes made for the movie interpretations.
"Onslaught are hunting super heroes & villains for their own agenda," reports Mayimbe. "They're like a special ops team made up of mercenaries. Antiphon is a burn victim & has a prosthetic leg." He also reckons this was the role Ed Harris was rumored for, but has no information on who'll actually play the character yet.
Like Task Force X, there have been several incarnations of Onslaught over the years but Antiphon was a member of the most recent one, and his team-mates included: Digital Djinn, Hyve, Rustam (who was actually the leader) and Tolteca. Will those guys make up Onslaught in the movie? We may have more information on that tomorrow, so check back then.
Re: The Suicide Squad ($724,133,343)
Never heard of them before but that's an interesting take. If they're hunting super heroes too then I'm curious to see who else will make an appearance.

'Deathstroke' Role May Be Joe Manganiello's For The Taking
True Blood actor Joe Manganiello has been rumored for a number of roles in a comic book movie, including Batman before Ben Affleck was cast as the The Dark Knight. Now according to Cinema Blend's sources, Joe Manganiello is close to signing on as Slade Wilson a.k.a Deathstroke in David Ayer's Suicide Squad. Their source also adds that Jason Clarke (Dawn of The Planet of The Apes) is the second choice for the role, but Manganiello is said to be close to a done deal. Cinema Blend also says we should expect confirmation on this casting very soon. This report matches up with earlier rumors from JoBlo which claimed that both Manganiello and Jason Clarke were contenders for the role.
More Details About DEATHSTROKE's "Breakout" Role
Latino-Review's El Mayimbe promised three big Suicide Squad-related scoops this week and now he's delivered the second with a ton of new Deathstroke details.
According to him, instead of being a full-on supervillain with powers, Deathstroke will be a hired assassin working for Onslaught. He's said to be the breakout character and his introductory scene is described as absolutely "insane." Also, Deathstroke will come face-to-face with the Suicide Squad early on and basically take down the entire team single-handedly.
Deathstroke's costume is said to be very stealth-oriented and uses an actual U.S. military tactical outfit for the basis. Like his comic-counterpart, his weapons of choice will be a sword and several automatics. The iconic orange/black mask is there, but early concept art does reveal that he will have two eyes, at least initially.
As for casting, since the role is expected to be the breakout character, the studio has been particularly choosy. Following up on last night's vague casting details, Mayimbe adds a little more: Jason Clarke (Terminator: Genisys) is out as he has a scheduling conflict and Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) initially tested for the role, but landed Rick Flagg instead. Until very recently, Joe Manganiello (Spider-Man) also had a scheduling conflict, but according to the report, he may have just dropped out of the upcoming horror-comedy anthology television series Scream Queens, freeing him up for Suicide Squad. Official casting news should be imminent, but as of right now, it seems like Deathstroke is Manganiello's role to lose.
Re: The Suicide Squad ($724,133,343)
Manganiello dropping out of Ryan Murphy's awful sounding Scream Queens for Suicide Squad? You don't usually come across choices that easy with scheduling conflicts, lol.

Haven't kept up with the DCU live action plans, but I take it they have no intention of the films and TV series' being in the same universe?

No, they don't. That's just not how DC rolls. We're going to have a different Flash than Gustin for starters and maybe a different Oliver Queen down the line.

LMFAO!!!! Joe definitely made the right call, typical Murphy bullshit
Re: The Suicide Squad ($724,133,343)
Lame! What made him even consider that in the first place? I think action movies are more his thing.

Yeah, but that was somewhat action and more mature while Scream Queens is a whole other genre.

It's another horror anthology like Murphy's other the dreadful series AHS but with "comedy" mixed in.
Horror comedy is always a win!

Jackie Earle Hayley Rumored For 'Thinker' Role
Latino Review's El Mayimbe is back with another Suicide Squad related scoop... or, as he admits himself, more of a rumor this time. Mayimbe has heard Jackie Earle Hayley's name "tossed around" for the role of The Thinker in the movie, but he cautions we should take it with a grain of salt until there's something more solid. Hayley will be best known to you CBMers as Rorschach in Zack Snyder's Watchmen, but he also played Freddy Krueger is the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, and most recently appeared as a villain in the Robocop reboot.
The Thinker is an alias that's been used by several characters in the DC Comics Universe, but it's a safe bet the movie iteration will be based on the original: Clifford DeVoe; a genius inventor who harnessed his intellect as a weapon using his "Thinking Cap." DeVoe was a member of the Injustice Society and the Suicide Squad after starting out as a Flash villain. No details on the role he'll be playing in David Ayer's adaptation, but considering this is the first we've heard of his involvement, chances are it won't be a substantial one.
Re: The Suicide Squad ($724,133,343)
Margot discussed what her Harley will look like and HYENAS!!!
"Harley Quinn has a few looks throughout the film. Going from traditional with the animated series as a reference to prison attire & in one sequence where they infiltrate a club she wears a dress. Get this, her & Joker's pet Hyena's are in the film briefly. Apparently, Harley with the hyena's are a big motif."
