The Wonderful World of SyFy Empty The Wonderful World of SyFy

Post by WyldeMan 12/25/2014, 8:13 pm

Considering how much fun Twinkie and Fb used to have with their SyFy marathons I thought we could use another one here. I got this idea while currently watching the crapfest that is Christmas Icetastrophe! What's really cracking me up the most though is this cast, while I'm used to seeing one or two of the same canadian actors on the same other show at the same time, I don't think I've ever seen so many people from one tv series in one movie before.

Continuum fans check this out, Richard Harmon aka Julian "Theseus" Randall plays the SON of Victor Webster aka Carlos Finnegra. That just cracks me the hell up. But also Jennifer Spence, Mike Dopud, Ben Cotton, Lane Edwards, all six of these Christmas Icetastrophe actors have either guested or recurred on Continuum.

Elisabeth Rohm is piloting a submarine that inexplicably in the shape of a shark. The movie's name is Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark but come on. This is just silly. And by "silly" I mean awesome.

The acting is just so over-the-top. LOL overacting is strong in this one. Christopher Judge is so creepy. I get that he's Elisabeth's love interest in this but he just gets so close to her face whenever he speaks to her even if it is just a regular conversation.

Debbie Gibson is in this, too, but I barely saw her.

How did Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark end?

Did Australia get eaten?

Did Rohm's so called alcoholism suddenly end?

Since you are such of fan of awesome movies like this you have got to stop putting it off and looking into getting the El Rey Network. Their lineup is amazing on Thursdays and Fridays. It is nothing but great/turrible kung-fu movies, nearly always pre-80s and then Fridays are Grindhouse films. But it is the worst of the worst, just turrible stuff that you can't help but have fun watching. Robert Rodriguez has started acquiring syndication deals for shows with lots of episodes they can run all the time. Shit, just saw a promo that starting tomorrow they are beginning an entire series run of Miami Vice airing a few episodes every day. Crockett and Tubbs are back! They also show Alba's series Dark Angel in pretty much constant rotation.

I haven't seen Debbie Gibson since her wonderful work in Playboy.

Oh no, she's a drunk? But she was so beautiful and talented, is she in bad shape now?

Crap, I didn't realize Rohm's character was an alcoholic. I started the movie late and couldn't finish it. It will air again soon enough since it's SyFy so I'll definitely have to catch it then. Maybe I'll download it....

Currently watching Lake Placid 4: The Final Chapter and Elisabeth Rohm is in this one, too. I'm starting to see a pattern of overacting. She is such a ham.

I really like her in Law and Order, though. I'm not very familiar with many of her other works but looking at her IMDB page, she was in Heroes and Beauty and the Beast.

Renner guest starred in the tenth episode of S1, that followed the one when Doyle died.
And Wesley joined the team.

He played Penn a vamp sired by Angel back in his early days.

Who came looking for Angel and began killing humans the same way he did.

In order to get his Maker's attention.

You might be thinking about CSI:NY actor Carmine Giovinazzo.

He played the the first human killed by a vamp on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I think he's currently on USA's Gracelend.

Some fun movies on today. Currently watching Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark. This just aired a couple weeks back but it's always good for repeat viewings.

5pm - 7pm: Airplane vs Volcano
This one has Dean Cain.
A commuter plane becomes trapped by a ring of volcanoes and has to find a way out without landing.
Interesting! No "end of the world" scenario here.

7pm - 9pm: Asteroid vs Earth
Starring Tia Carrere. Haven't seen her in forever. Will be checking this one out to see how she's doing.

9pm - 11pm: Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies
President Abraham Lincoln undertakes a tough task: destroying the confederate walking dead.
Yes.

11pm - 1am: Airplane vs Volcano

1am - 3am: Asteroid vs Earth

3am - 5am: Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies

All in all I'd say a decent line-up for Superbowl Sunday.

Just finished Dinoshark. The last line of the movie, the heroine says: "Welcome to the endangered species list, you bastard."

Then she kills the dinoshark with a harpoon to the eye. It would have been really funny if she says that line and then misses the shot. The movie ends kind of abruptly but gets a strong B+.

Robocroc is on again now. This one is kinda crappy. The good news is Lake Placid vs Anaconda is on tonight at 7pm EST. Will be watching this since I missed the first 90 minutes last night.

I'm currently watching a movie with the description: When giant monsters crawl out of the Atlantic Ocean and attack the Eastern Seaboard the US Government is forced to trust a trio of mischievous soldiers, specialized in piloting gigantic robots, to defend America.

Guess the name of the movie....

Atlantic Rim

Very Happy

This movie is out of control. You know the heroes did some serious shit when the General of the US Army fistbumps the good guys for a job well done.

The Wonderful World of SyFy Empty Re: The Wonderful World of SyFy

Post by joey con carne 7/18/2015, 8:55 am

Finally! A Saturday of good SyFy movies. Shark day!

11am - 1pm: Shark Attack 2

1pm - 3pm: Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus
Starring Jaleel White and Gary Stretch. Woo wooooooo

3pm - 5pm: Malibu Shark Attack
Peta Wilson!

5pm - 7pm: Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus
Deborah Gibson

7pm - 9pm: Roboshark
"A shark goes on a rampage after devouring a space probe."
This one is from 2015 and appears to be new. It kind of sounds like Robocroc where a bunch of tiny little robots ("nanobots"?) take over a croc and turn it into a robot croc. Sounds good. I'm in.

9pm - 11pm: Mega Shark vs. Kolossus
"A gigantic shark battles a rival sea creature."

Here's something interesting. The description I just wrote above is from Verizon's TV Guide but IMDb has a description that says: "In search of a new energy source, Russia accidentally reawakens the Kolossus - a giant robot doomsday device from the Cold War. At the same time, a new Mega Shark appears, threatening global security."

So what is this movie really about? I think I trust IMDb more.

This one appears new, too. 2015. Stars Ileana Douglas (I only know her as the psychic friend from Stir of Echoes) and Amy Rider.

11pm - 1am: Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark
This one also stars Deborah Gibson. Another interesting fact: The Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus credit above says "Deborah" while this credit states "Debbie".

1am - 3am: Shark Attack

3am - 5am: Shark Attack 2

They are not showing an encore presentation of Mega Shark vs. Kolossus at 1am like usual. What's up with that? What if I miss it? Noooooo it's always good to have a backup viewing time.

Haha! Just saw that commercial. Currently watching Roboshark. This one is new! I saw a commercial for Roboshark and Mega Shark vs. Kolossus double feature.

Tuning in to both. I might go get me some slices of pizza from my favorite pizza shop two blocks away for dinner with the good movies.

Pizza was delicious. Now watching Mega Shark vs. Kolossus. They gave the Asian girl in this subtitles. I was about to cry "racism" but it turns out they are subtitling a bunch of people. lol

Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark

They are using a submarine that looks like a shark to fight a megaladon. LOL shit, this is dope.

Megaladon just destroyed a battleship.

Tara Reid had a hedge trimmer to fight sharks. Saw a commercial for Sharknado 3 and it looks like they are trying to give her a chainsaw hand like Evil Dead Ash.
