Jurassic World ($1,544,578,884)
Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar, off the Pacific coast of Central America, now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. This new park is owned by the Masrani Global Corporation. Owen (Chris Pratt), a member of Jurassic World's on-site staff, conducts behavioral research on the Velociraptors. At the request of the corporation, the park's geneticists create a genetically-modified hybrid dinosaur to boost visitor attendance, which soon runs wild on the island.[3]

I'm one of the very few people looking forward to this, my inner 8 year old is freaking out about getting to see another JP movie in theaters just like I first did in '93.

ABC News reveal that Jurassic World is the first movie to be confirmed as signing up for a TV spot during this year's Super Bowl. The event takes place on February 1st, and each will obviously be released online shortly after airing on TV. A 30 second commercial is going to cost a record $4.5 million this year, so it will be interesting to see which studios fork out for a preview which is a minute or longer.

The article says it's $4.5 million for every 30 seconds, but I don't believe they've confirmed that JW is only running a 30 second spot.

I still dislike the raptors being trained and the mutant dinosaur, but that trailer was pretty dope. I'm so in.

Dinosaurs Stomp On ‘Ultron': $204.6M, 2nd Biggest Domestic Bow Of All-Time
The opening weekend for Universal’s Jurassic World is being called at $204.59M, making the fourth dinosaur-run-amok theme park film the second biggest bow at the domestic B.O. of all-time, overtaking Disney’s Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s ($191.27M) and sitting right under the all-time opening champ Avengers which zapped $207.4M back in May 2012. But get this: Some B.O. pundits say that by the time Sunday is called, JW could actually rip Avengers‘ leotards off and become the reigning all-time U.S. opener stateside. This sends Universal from its third place spot on the 2015 domestic marketshare all the way to No. 1 past the $1B mark; the fastest for any major studio to hit that point this year. As more receipts solidified this AM, it turns out Saturday was even bigger than expected with $69.7M-70.8M per insider B.O. tracking reports. The anticipation Sunday is that JW will post a slip of -25%, giving it a Sunday well north of $50M. Other parts of the exhib and distrib biz are feeling the halo effect of JW in the marketplace. Ticket seller Fandango reported that Friday was their highest sales day in the 15-year history of the company thanks to Uni’s dinosaurs.

Probably a good idea, and exactly what I'm doing. Look at those numbers while Pratt just became one of the biggest stars in the world leading two major franchises.
Jurassic World domination was the major theme of the international frame, as the Universal behemoth took a phenomenal $307.2M in 66 overseas markets and scored a historic global box office milestone with $511.8M worldwide.

‘Jurassic World’ Topples ‘Avengers’ For All-Time Record Bow
Early morning estimates show that we have a new box office champion with Jurassic World besting The Avengers’ $207.4M domestic bow from 2012. By all accounts this AM, the dinosaurs stomped in with a $209M three-day opening; others have it just slightly lower, but they definitely took the crown. Congrats to Universal and what a wild ride it has been.

Rentrak.com has revealed the box office numbers from this past weekend with Universal Pictures' “Jurassic World” dominating the U.S. and international markets by taking the top spot yet again in its second week of release. The “Jurassic Park” sequel grossed an impressive $102.0 million domestically and $262.5 million internationally adding up to a total cume of $981.3 million globally. "Jurassic World" is expected to cross the $1 billion mark by Monday making it the fastest-grossing film to reach $1 billion worldwide passing up Universal’s recent release, “Furious 7.”

Holy fuck, 10 days later it's nearing the billion mark....
I think it's safe to say the Jurassic franchise has been successfully resurrected.

Chris Pratt Predicted Jurassic Job in 2010
Ok, maybe there is something to the idea of ‘put it out there to the universe and it will happen’.
In 2010, Chris Pratt was playing Andy Dwyer in NBC’s Parks And Recreation. While recording a behind-the-scenes video extra for the show’s DVD version, he made a joke about getting a text from Steven Spielberg.
‘Man, I just got a text message,’ said Pratt as he looked down at his phone. ‘From Steven Spielberg. God, so annoying’, he said relaying his reply aloud. ‘I’ll have to get back to you later about Jurassic Park 4. Boom.’
Now, five years later Pratt is starring in the mega-blockbuster Jurassic World. Check out the video above.
