I fucking hate dubbed films.

My hate stems back from the 80's/90's Jackie Chan movies. The local releases were always dubbed, cut, and also cropped to 4:3 ratio. When I discovered Chinatown as a teen, and noticed they had Jackie Chan films that I'd never heard of, I tried them and never went back. Original language, most had English subtitles, but also most weren't edited, and they were in their original aspect ratio.

Like Wylde though, some languages just grate my ears, and German is top of that list.

Anything Nordic I enjoy (Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finish, Icelandic, etc). I find it really easy listening to them.

I enjoyed Dark, but still need to watch the final season. Apparently it's the best yet and wraps the series up nicely.

I definitely agree on the Nordic languages but I always assumed it was partly their easy listening and also that I have a lifelong love of all things viking.

I'm halfway through Dark's first season now and it's totally insane. It's Germany's answer to Back to the Future if Marty McFly were an eleven year old boy who gets kidnapped and time travels 33 years into the past where he met and eventually MARRIED his own mother before FATHERING HIMSELF AND HIS OWN BROTHER!!!!

I can't even imagine how much weirder this shit is going to get, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Time travel shows are always convoluted and hard to follow even in English, so jumping back and forth in German trying to figure out which teenage character matches to their adult counterpart while simultaneously figuring out just what the hell this series is actually about while also trying to wrap my head around how this little boy ended up in an incestuous marriage with his own mother before fathering himself. And German Marty McFly also hangs himself in the very beginning of the series.

German's are absolutely fucking nuts by even the most insane of standards. It's utter madness.

I've been hearing for three years now how great this Dark series is but nobody ever discusses the finer points of the Dark lunacy.

Please tell me I'm deeply confused and just mistaken by all this.

I watched more Dark and it turns out I was just confused. The little boy didn't grow up to marry his mother but there did turn out to be incest anyways when another character started hooking up with his Aunt, who is the same age as him. But there are so many confusing elements to the show I'm not entirely sure what I know is even close to fact. Watching my very first German series ever has turned out to be a much bigger challenge than I'd expected.

There was a scene where a grown man chased down an eight year old boy pinned him to the ground and smashed his head in with a large rock. It was bloody and violent, the grown man only stopped smashing the little boy's head once he thought he was dead but he survived and grew up to become a time traveling serial killer.

Dark is totally insane.....

Also, I looked up Dark on wikipedia. The graphics people used to decipher the timelines is enough to turn me off. I don't want to have to think that much to enjoy a show or realize its genius. I'll have to pass on this one.

Gonna check out Hanna on Amarzon Prime, though. That looks good.

Dark is not an easy watch by any means, it's a constant struggle to figure out who is who depending on which of the three timelines they're jumping to in season one. I can follow the convoluted mess that is Westworld and I'm still confused by everything about Dark.

Hannah's alright, not really confusing just frustrating.

Dang, that sucks to hear about Hanna. It looked good from the trailers I've watched. I'll watch it with an abundance of caution.

Currently listening to Depeche Mode. These guys are great.

You will probably like Hanna more than I did, the frustrations I had might not be the same for your.

I've never listened to Depeche Mode and couldn't even name one song though I'm positive I have heard them in various movies over the ears. What would be your go to song recommendation?

This Amber Heard Johnny Depp libel trial is crazy, both of them sound crazy violent and their entire relationship seems to be a series of them both trying to smash the other's face in with fists or bottles. Both sound like lunatics with explosive rage issues. They are the definition of a toxic relationship.

There's a few tracks which are pretty popular. I recall a few made mainstream pop channels. I bet you know Dream On and Freelove.

I hadn't heard of anybody wanting to make that biopic ever and suddenly Dave Franco lands it? That feels like the kind of project you'd expect to be announced on April 1st.

I hope they cover everything from being hung upside down from a balcony by Suge Knight to his awesome Cold as Ice movie to his home renovation projects, Ice gets around.

No offense was meant, I only didn't mention it because it was clearly the highest point of his entire career so naturally it was already going to play a major part in the film. I was only naming other stuff that might be cut for time.

I know he's not broke and I watched his home reno show once or twice many years ago and I watched Cold as Ice more than once as a kid. I've never had hate for Vanilla Ice, I'm a white child of the 80s so naturally he belongs on the soundtrack of my youth.

He does seem like a decent guy that's why it amuses/confounds me that a comedic dbag like Dave Franco is playing him in the movie.

Dark is truly the most maddening time travel series of all-time. I already shared my confusion over the existing three timelines which were all spread out 33 years apart because we all know that's how time travel works. But anyways by the time I started the first episode of season 2, we now have FIVE different timelines with what appears to be more yet to be introduced.

Also they have a time traveling bunker which apparently requires lots of child sacrifices to make it work and this  releases energy into a tunnel that has carved out in a cave below said bunker that you access through a small hatch door for some apparent reason and as you travel down the tunnel you come a Y and you can either go left or right and each way takes you to a different timeline.

I still have no understanding of what this show is about but I think they're trying to stop an apocalypse while an evil Priest who's actually an atheist tries to make sure it happens.

Please Dark viewers, help me out here cause this show is the most confusingly weird series I have experienced in a very long time and the fact that it's all in German is not helping.

There have been a few times when this site goes into maintenance and I think the forum is gone. Kind of made me panic.

Anyways, after chatting with you guys for so many years, I do consider you all my friends.

Any chance you guys might want to share emails or something? I know that is weird. Just a thought.

I've had the same thought because multiple times over the years, the forum has gone down and I wasn't sure if it was coming back.

It's been probably eight years now that we talk on a fairly regular basis so it makes sense that we share contact info in case.

If it hadn't been for you guys, I wouldn't have known when Groo died, I would have thought he just stopped coming here.

Speaking of, next month is the fifth anniversary of Gary's death. Time is really flying by....

That works for me. I can keep a master list, since you know it'd only be four other emails.

I kept watching Dark and I finally figured out what those German bastards did. They took some of the best plot points from my number one all-time travel series, 12 Monkeys as well as Back to the Future and then added a bunch of convoluted nonsense to make it seem different and added a bunch of pointless side characters.

If I could summarize Dark in a few sentences in would be the story of a German Romeo and Juliet, if R&J had been aunt and nephew. Their incestuous love for each other breaks their worlds because as it turned out, they lived in the multiverse.

There is the fact that the series takes place in no less than SIX different timelines and across two different planets.

I may have been wrong about that one character being his own father but there ended up being another little girl who grew up to be the mother of her own mother, thus making the little girl her own grandmother.

There's the religious order of time travelers murdering their way through time to preserve the time lines and they were lead by the hair lipped child of those incestuous teenage lovers. This hair lipped individual appears as THREE separate characters, we see him as a boy, a grown man and an old man. This also happens for a majority of the other characters in the series, three different actors portraying most of them at three separate periods of their lives across multiple time lines and some of these characters also use fake names so you don't know which character they really are....

A nuclear plant melts down and creates time travel but their is also the time travel device which looks like a mechanical steampunk gear box the characters lug around in a large suitcase when they're not using the time traveling tunnels.

I could go on and on but each plot point I list will only make you more confused. I have no idea what the hell the Germans were going for when they made Dark but there seemed to be about a dozen main story lines that were entirely unnecessary to the overall arc of the series.

It appears NY Comicom is still happening. No tickets sold yet, though, so they are probably still on the fence about going through with it. In the past, they would sell the tickets in May.

That's right, he does take Hollywood sabbaticals from time to time when he's not mining the site for our movie ideas to make himself rich.

Speaking of, I've got a new pitch about Werewolf Vikings discovering North America in the 1300's, that I think he might have an interest in.

Will it involve the Vikings coming here and then meeting their match of Native American wendigos?

That would be sweet. It can be told from the Viking perspective. Then have a spinoff season air at the same time from the Native American perspective.

HOLY SHIT! How did you know?!?!?! Native American Wendigos vs Viking Werewolves is exactly what I was going for!!!

The Wendigos would be Comanche Dog Soldiers and Zahn McLarnon would be my top casting choice for their leader.

Ultimately though, the Wendigos and the Werewolves would unite against a common enemy as they fight to repel other foreign invaders in a massive war for the New World.

I'm thinking it's likely English and Spanish raiders who dabble in black magic though I am open to other ideas as we are still in the series bible stage.
