Bill & Ted Face The Music ($6 Million Worldwide Box Office) Bill-t10
‘Most Excellent!’ 27 years after we last saw the totally radical pairing of Ted “Theodore” Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq., Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are now confirmed to reprise their roles in a third Bill & Ted movie, I can reveal. Bloom is launching sales in Cannes on the long-gestating time time-travel comedy, which is called Bill & Ted Face The Music. The movie is likely to be one of the hottest properties at the market.

Currently in pre-production, the movie has been written by the franchise’s original creators Chris Matheson (Imagine That) and Ed Solomon (Men in Black) with Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) confirmed to direct. Scott Kroopf (Limitless) will produce together with Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce of Hammerstone Studios, with Steven Soderbergh serving as an executive producer alongside Scott Fischer, John Ryan Jr., and John Santilli.

When we last picked up with the most audacious dudes they were time-traveling teenagers trying to pass history class and win the battle of the bands. Once prophesized to save the universe with their rock and roll, according to the production the new movie will see the two best friends as middle age men with family responsibilities who have still yet to fulfill their destiny. They’ve written thousands of tunes, but they have yet to write a good one, much less the greatest song ever written. With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns the duo that only their music can save life as we know it. Out of luck and fresh out of inspiration, Bill and Ted set out on another time travel adventure — with the help of their daughters, a new crop of historical figures, and some sympathetic music legends — to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe as we know it.

MGM owns the rights to the film and will release in the U.S. under their Orion Pictures banner while Bloom is handling international sales. Endeavor Content negotiated the U.S. deal. The project has already piqued the interest of buyers in Cannes, we understand.

Winter and Reeves said today, “We couldn’t be more excited to get the whole band back together again. Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm we’ve got a dream team!”

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey became cultural landmarks for a certain generation — the nostalgia factor alone could be a big pull for some audiences — as well as lucrative comedies in their own right. The movie also comes at time when promising and scaled comedies are in short supply. Bloom’s Alex Walton said, “Fans of Bill and Ted have been waiting for Reeves and Winter to reunite since their last Bogus Journey in 1991. This is excellent!”

Reeves is currently in production on the third installment of the John Wick franchise. Winter has more recently transitioned to writing and directing with credits including Epix documentary Deep Web and VH1 documentary Downloaded. Next up he hasFrank Zappa doc Zappa.

Keanu Reeves & Alex Winter Announce Bill & Ted 3 in Excellent Video Message
We have some excellent news! Bill & Ted Face the Music, at long last, is happening. For real this time. This is one of those projects that has been discussed to death and we understand people being afraid to get their hopes up. However, original stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter have both personally confirmed that the long-awaited sequel is finally going to head into production this summer. What's more, is they confirmed that the movie will be heading to a theater near you in summer 2020.

The video kicks off with the two gathered at the Hollywood Bowl proclaiming that, together, they make up the band Wyld Stallyns. That alone is delightful. But things get progressively more excellent as both Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves continue on, as they confirm that production on the movie will finally be getting underway shortly after a long, long wait. And they make it clear that this is happening because the fans have been so vocal about the fact that they want it to happen. Therefore, it has been willed into existence. Here's what Winter had to say about it in the video.

"It is all because of you guys, so we owe you a huge debt of gratitude and we wanted to say thank you. Be excellent."

The video fades to a card that reads "Summer 2020." It was initially announced last year during Cannes that the sequel, officially titled Bill & Ted Face the Music, will be produced by MGM's Orion Pictures. Things have slowly been coming together behind the scenes ever since. Trying to work out the logistics of scheduling, getting financing together. All of that jazz. Quite importantly, the studio has confirmed that the movie will be released on August 21, 2020.

In Bill & Ted Face the Music, the stakes are higher than ever for William "Bill" S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter) and Theodore "Ted" Logan (Keanu Reeves). The two haven't fulfilled their rock and roll destiny and are now middle-aged men, but still best friends. The two set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.

Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) is in the director's chair working from a script by original writers Chris Matheson (A Goofy Movie) and Ed Solomon (Men in Black). Production will be taking place in New Orleans. Scott Kroopf is producing alongside Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce for Hammerstone Studios. Steven Soderbergh will be executive producing along with John Ryan Jr., Scott Fischer and John Santilli.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, released in 1989 and 1991 respectively, have both gone on to become cult classics. While neither were huge box office hits, they've remained staples of pop culture, which is why there has been so much demand for a sequel. Be sure to check out the announcement video from the Orion Pictures YouTube channel.

William Sadler to Return as Grim Reaper in ‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’
Bill & Ted Face The Music ($6 Million Worldwide Box Office) Willia10
The long-awaited third film in the “Bill & Ted” series is taking shape, as William Sadler, the actor who played the Grim Reaper in “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey,” is reprising his role in the sequel.

The official Twitter feed for the film announced the news in a tweet Monday following many fan questions, confirming that Sadler’s version of Death will appear in “Bill & Ted Face the Music.”

Sadler joins Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in the reunion film that follows the events of “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey,” in which the now middle-aged Bill and Ted set out on a new adventure to fulfill their destiny as the band Wyld Stallions to bring harmony to the universe through the power of their music. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.

In “Bogus Journey,” Bill and Ted were confronted by the Grim Reaper after they wound up dead and are forced to challenge him to games like Battleship, Clue and Twister in order to win their journey back from the afterlife.

“Face the Music” will begin production this summer, and the film will be released by Orion Pictures on Aug. 21, 2020 through the United Artists Releasing banner.

Dean Parisot (“Galaxy Quest,” “Red 2,” “Fun With Dick and Jane”) is directing the time-traveling buddy comedy based on a screenplay by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, who are returning to the franchise.

Scott Kroopf is producing alongside Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce on behalf of Hammerstone Studios. Steven Soderbergh will be executive producing along with R. Scott Reid, John Ryan Jr., Scott Fischer and John Santilli. Production legal will be handled by Rosen Stapleton Law Group.

Sadler is known for roles in “The Shawshank Redemption,” “Die Hard 2” and “Iron Man 3.” He most recently provided voice work on the animated series “Our Cartoon President” and appeared in an episode of “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.” He’ll also be seen in the horror remake “Grudge.”

Young Girl's Bill & Ted Dream Comes True Thanks to Keanu Reeves & Make-A-Wish
Bill & Ted Face The Music ($6 Million Worldwide Box Office) Defaul10
Thanks to Make-A-Wish, one lucky Keanu Reeves fan was able to spend some time with her favorite actor and even watch him film a scene for Bill & Ted Face the Music. On Facebook, Make-A-Wish New Jersey posted several photos of a 16-year-old girl named Emily hanging out on the Face the Music set. In the background, we can see the Wyld Stallyns van, and Emily also poses with Reeves and co-star Alex Winter. The meeting comes as a direct result from Emily's desire to meet her favorite actor, coupled with the efforts of the Make-A-Wish foundation and Reeves himself.

According to Emily's mother Deborah, the teen's all-time favorite movie is Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. "She came across it one day and was instantly hooked," Deborah explains. Partnering up with Make-A-Wish, Emily was asked if she could have one wish, what would it be? Naturally, the girl said what she wanted most was to meet the real Ted "Theodore" Logan.

As soon as Keanu Reeves was informed, the actor and his team quickly worked to create an unforgettable experience for Emily. After flying the teen to the actual Bill & Ted Face the Music set in Louisiana, Emily was able to watch the cast and crew film a scene personally hand-picked by Reeves. Thanking Make-A-Wish, Emily's mother couldn't be more grateful for the experience. "It was an unbelievable day," Deborah says. "She hasn't been this happy in months! Keanu seemed to be having as much fun with Emily as she was with him."

While Reeves has since redefined himself as an actor with roles in other major franchises like The Matrix and John Wick, many fans still consider Ted to be one of the actor's very best characters. Along with Alex Winter's Bill, the character first appeared in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure in 1989. The story followed the aspiring rockers as they travel through time to research a high school history presentation. The sequel Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey followed in 1991, this time killing off both members of the duo (albeit temporarily) and leading them to explore both Heaven and Hell. While rumblings of another sequel had worked their way through the rumor mill in the years since, it won't be until 2020 when the anticipated follow-up finally hits theaters.

Of course, Reeves and Winter are both back as Ted and Bill for Bill & Ted Face the Music. William Sadler is also back at the Grim Reaper, reprising the role he played in Bogus Journey. Recently, George Carlin's daughter Kelly also revealed she's been added to the movie's cast, paying tribute to the Rufus character played by her father in the previous movies. Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine have also been cast as Ted and Bill's daughters, with Erinn Hayes and Jayma Mays playing the girls' mothers. Rapper Kid Cudi has also been announced as a part of the cast in an undisclosed role.

Bill & Ted Face the Music premieres in theaters everywhere on Aug. 21, 2020. You can take a look at the photos of Emily from Make-A-Wish on the movie set below. This news comes to us from Make-A-Wish New Jersey on Facebook.

I feel the same, the first two are synonymous with my childhood so I can't speak badly of them. Does this new trailer look amazing, well not really but I've been waiting decades to hear the song that saves the world and outside of that ridiculous prison scene, it does looks good.

Let the movie re-dating begin. After Warner Bros. moved Christopher Nolan’s Tenet yesterday to Wednesday, Aug. 12 following COVID-19 cases spiking nationwide and New York moving movie theaters out of phase 4, United Artists Releasing is now pushing their Orion threequel Bill & Ted Face the Music to Aug. 28.

Excellent! Most triumphant! Totally not heinous! Cool

In all seriousness, the movie could still turn a nice profit on VOD rentals as opposed to being a box office flop due to a lack of audience.

I'm just happy they aren't delaying it until next year. Disney just pushed nearly all of their upcoming releases back a full year.
