“At 12 a.m. [local time], we received a 911 call from the MGM Grand Casino Hotel,” the Detroit Police Department’s director of media relations told Variety. “It appears as though a family friend was checking up on Cornell at his wife’s request. He went to hotel and discovered him unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Police made the location with EMS, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Damn.

Chris Cornell — frontman for rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave — died at 52 from suicide by hanging, a Wayne County, Michigan, medical examiner confirmed to TheWrap on Thursday.

Cornell took his life in his Detroit hotel room following a concert while on tour with Soundgarden.

In a statement to the Associated Press, Cornell’s representative Brian Bumbery said his death was “sudden and unexpected.”

I think it's probably safe to say that Vedder is the last main stream Grunge man standing now or at least that he's quickly running out of company. I believe Pearl Jam is the only Grunge band to have never lost a member to tragedy though nearly all of them were originally in Temple of the Dog with Cornell and Mother Love Bone with Andrew Wood who OD'd back in '90, before becoming Pearl Jam.

Cobain died in '94 but Krist and Grohl are both still alive.

AIC's Staley OD'd on the 8th anniversary of Cobain's death in '02 and their drummer Mike Starr followed suit in 2011 though Cantrell is still kickin.

I believe Weiland is the only dead member of STP.

I remember Mike Starr on Celebrity Rehab, his death wasn't a shock.

Neither was Cobain, there were red flags.

Celebrity Rehab was a terrible show and It seems like most of their victims relapsed multiple times and many have died. Mike Starr was never able to shake Layne's death and it killed him.

The episode when Lane's mom came to see him was very sad.

The guilt was eating away at Mike.

What a bummer. Have yo say I was only ever really a fan of his Audioslave work. Loved that stuff. It combined the best part of Soundgarden (Cornell), with the best parts of Rage Against The Machine (everyone but la Rocha).

Their debut has always been on heavy rotation with me. Coupled with the fact their music video for Show Me How To Live was a re-imagining of the movie Vanishing Point - the movie that made me fall in love with the 1970 Dodge Challenger, which I eventually owned.

I LOVED Soundgarden growing up, though I did enjoy some of his Audioslave work too, Cornell had a monster of a voice and it's a shame he chose to silence it.

Growing up, the only station my dad would put on was "KISW The Rock of Seattle" and when you're growing up in the early 90's here, there was exactly one kind of music they played and to this day, it is still on heavy daily rotation and I don't think it's even possible to go two hours without hearing Nirvana, AIC, Soundgarden or Pearl Jam.

Cornell’s Family: Prescription Drug Ativan May Have Influenced Suicide
Chris Cornell’s family has issued a statement questioning the coroner’s report that the singer intentionally took his own life on Thursday.

“Without the results of toxicology tests, we do not know what was going on with Chris—or if any substances contributed to his demise,” the Cornell family said.

The 52 year-old vocalist had a prescription for Ativan, the family shared, and may have taken a higher dosage that impaired his judgement. Attorney Kirk Pasich noted that Ativan can cause paranoid or suicidal thoughts and slurred speech.

Ativan is a tranquilizer and anti-anxiety medication that is sometimes used as a sleeping aid.

Cornell was a recovering addict and had allegedly been sober since 2002. His wife, Vicky, said in an emotional statement, “Chris’s death is a loss that escapes words and has created an emptiness in my heart that will never be filled. As everyone who knew him commented, Chris was a devoted father and husband.”

She said Cornell flew home from Soundgarden’s tour the weekend before to spend time with his wife and children, before returning to the mid-west.

The Seattle rocker was found dead in his hotel bathroom at 12:05 a.m. ET on Thursday. Soundgarden had played a show just hours before at Detroit’s Fox Theater.

His death was ruled a suicide by hanging, the local medical examiner reported Thursday, but Cornell’s family called the suicide declarations “disturbing.”

“When we spoke after the show, I noticed he was slurring his words; he was different,” his wife added. “When he told me he may have taken an extra Ativan or two, I contacted security and asked that they check on him.”

She added: “What happened is inexplicable and I am hopeful that further medical reports will provide additional details. I know that he loved our children and he would not hurt them by intentionally taking his own life. The outpouring of love and support from his fans, friends and family means so much more to us than anyone can know. Thank you for that, and for understanding how difficult this is for us.”

Details Emerge About Chris Cornell’s Suicide in Leaked Police Report
Details surrounding Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell’s suicide were published Friday by The Detroit News, which obtained a copy of a report filed by officers who responded to the scene.

According to the article, the report says Cornell’s wife, Vicky, asked his bodyguard to check on the singer after a telephone conversation in which he repeatedly said, “I am just tired.” The bodyguard, Martin Kirsten, went to Cornell’s room at the MGM Grand Hotel shortly after midnight and found the main door and a door to the bedroom suite locked; he forced both doors open. He found Cornell on the bathroom floor, “with blood running from his mouth and a red exercise band around [his] neck,” the report says.

Cornell’s family issued a statement Friday morning disputing that his death was a suicide and may have been exacerbated by Ativan, which he had been prescribed for anxiety. Michael Woody, director of media relations for the Detroit Police, told Variety that the report had been leaked and an official version will not be available until the medical report is complete, probably several weeks from now.

Kirsten had been in Cornell’s room shortly before he received Vicky’s call. He helped the singer fix his computer and then gave Cornell two Ativan pills, “which victim takes for anxiety.”

At around 12:15 a.m., Vicky Cornell phoned Kirsten and asked him to check on her husband, “because he did not sound like he is okay,” the report said. She said her husband sounded “groggy and just kept saying, ‘I am just tired,’ and hung up the phone.”

Kirsten went to the singer’s suite and called security twice when he found the doors latched. Security personnel refused to allow him access, but Kirsten kicked down the doors and found the singer unresponsive. An MGM medic arrived at 12:56 a.m., according to the report, and “untied the red exercise band from [the] victim’s neck and began CPR on [Cornell, who] was not breathing.”

EMS personnel arrived minutes later and also unsuccessfully attempted CPR. Cornell was pronounced dead by a doctor at 1:30 a.m. Homicide detectives arrived and began an investigation, but foul play is not suspected in the case.

Cornell, who struggled with substance abuse for much of his life, admitted in 2009 that he had been in rehab for an addiction to OxyContin. He said he had been sober since 2002.

So the BG had been in his room before the wife called.

Then gave Chris two more pills.

Not long after he had talked to her and admitted to taking some, during that call.

FOUR Ativan, in a short time span?

What'd he do, in his sleep grab and exercise band and accidentally kill himself the way some people drive cars on those things???

Ativan puts you in a fog, similar to sleepwalking.

GMA once had a Journalist take it and filmed her, she ended up getting into a car and driving while under it's influence.

Very scary.

No, it's from a show back in '09 I just thought it was a fantastic performance of a song that feels very fitting right now.

I wonder if Eddie will write a tribute song for Chris like he did for Layne with 4/20/02.

You know something, Russ? That kinda gets my goat. Every president who "tweeted" had staff who took care of that. Those tweets would be vetted and approved my other staff before, maybe.... maybe the president reading it and giving approval. They don't have time to sit there on a phone when there is shit needing to be done.

But Trump? That fucker is up tweeting shit himself. You know he's up at 3am just stewing about people talking shit about him and then thinking of real crushers to tweet back.

Elon Musk’s ‘Boring Company’ Continues to Tease LA Traffic Solution
Random Thoughts - Page 18 Boring10
Elon Musk‘s “The Boring Company” — which has its sights set on solving Los Angeles traffic through a network of underground tunnels — continues to tease the masses, releasing new pictures of the futuristic buses that’ll dart people around town earlier today.

The shuttles look like the coolest version of a subway car imaginable, with up to about a dozen passengers comfortably sitting or standing in the glass bus.

This adds a second method of transportation from Boring (which is anything but); the company will also have cars locked-in to sleds above ground, drop below the surface on an elevator, and then shoot through the tunnels.

SpaceX and Tesla CEO Musk gave us a sneak peak at what it’ll look like in action earlier this month on Instagram, with the sleds racing through the tunnels at speeds up to 125 miles per hour.

The genesis of the company stems from Musk’s frustration with sitting in traffic last year (he splits his time between the Bay Area in Northern California for Tesla and Los Angeles for SpaceX). Musk said on Instagram the first tunnels will go from LAX to Culver City, Santa Monica, Westwood and Sherman Oaks — trips that would take upwards of 45 minutes in rush hour traffic, but only five minutes via the tunnels.

For a look at how your car will be able to use the tunnels, check out the video below.

Like Staley and Cobain, Chris was cremated.

His MIL been tweeting up a storm, since he died.

She fired verbal shots at Eddie Vedder and his wife.

Somebody needs to teach her how to subtweet.

Soon as she threw Daughter up in her comments, it was a dead giveaway.

From what I read, ole heffa was mad because Eddie and his wife only reached out to Chris's
Oldest daughter.
Not the other kids and his Widow.

As I recall, Eddie hated how Chris and his second wife dragged Susan
Through the mud.
And how he wasn't close to their daughter.
I know that changed with time and he mended the rift with his eldest.

But that split was a nasty one.

I believe the rumors about Vicky and her family, being attention
whores. Especially after seeing MIL Twitter rants.

Greg Allman just died too. He was 69, no cause was disclosed but he'd recently been in hospice and over the years had heart problems and a liver transplant.

Currently in the works to buy a house. The house is actually in pretty good condition. It was a single-level home the previous owner converted into a two-level. There is a basement (finished) and an attic (unfinished). Basement will need a bit of work and the attic will be finished to make it into a giant closet/guest bedroom.

The second floor is in pretty good condition so I will just be painting the rooms and re-finishing the bathroom and putting in new flooring to match the first floor. The first floor will be a gut. New kitchen, new floors, new walls, new bathroom.

Gonna be a lot of work. And going through the colors of the paints... damn. Full steam ahead soon, I hope!

I imagine getting permits could be a nightmare in NYC.

This house is in Long Island, thankfully, which means I get to stop paying city taxes soon. I'm pretty certain we are not doing any work which will require permits.... except rewiring the first floor... I think. Pretty sure we won't need permits.

Dude, thanks for that, Wylde. Wake-up call. The contractor is a family friend so I'll make sure he's on top of this shit.

Awesome. Are you buying on your own or with friend/partner etc?

One of my few regrets in life, not getting my shit together when I was in my twenties to buy property.

The kind of permits depend on your area but even out here in the country it can take months to get specific permits but in my experience, electrical is nearly always included in that.

This one is on my own. Trying to make some moves after saving money for so long. I mean, I live at home now, and yea, I know, I'm freakin' old but I don't care. I never had to pay rent so I'm pretty fortunate and now have money saved up. Some of my colleagues live in Manhattan and live walking distance away from the office. I'm always jealous of them but when I hear how much they are paying in rent ($1,700 per month for a studio, $1,500 a month for a three bedroom with two or three other roommates) I think to myself "fuck that".

The only thing now which is taking time is this property is a rental property for the current owner. He's renting it to a family who just built their home. That family is now waiting for a certificate of occupancy (CO) before they can move in so they are still living there now with most of their stuff already packed and moved out. This CO might take another month or so before we can even start drawing up contracts and stuff. I'm fine with it, though. This purchase so far has been pretty painless. The buyer isn't being a complete douche and rushing everything which is fantastic because I'm not in a rush, either. But we are probably going to get our contracts together soon. I already have my lawyer ready to go.

Thanks again for the tips. I will definitely be pro-active about this permit stuff.

Ay-Yi-Yi!

Original ‘Power Rangers’ star Jason David Frank has had a bit of a close shave, as a lone gunman headed to Phoenix Comic Con with the intention of killing him.

A heavily-armed man – identified as 31-year-old Matthew Sterling – arrived at the convention on Thursday claiming to be ‘The Punisher’… with a plan to kill numerous ‘bad’ cops as well as the original Green Ranger, who was appearing at the comic con.

Thankfully, he was picked up by police before anyone was hurt.

According to a police statement, the would-be-attacker has since been charged with attempted murder, three counts of aggravated assault, wearing body armour during the commission of a felony, resisting arrest, and carrying a weapon in a prohibited place.

When I first started reading the article, before I scrolled down far enough to see this guy's picture, I was pretty much picturing him to look exactly like that: fat, unshaven, with hair long enough to tie up in a ponytail. I think the internet calls people like that "neckbeards". Laughing

Interesting concept but I can't imagine the city going forward with this. I remember Elon talking about this idea before but it doesn't seem realistic after watching that video.

Nice Joey! I hope to one day buy my own. Houses are not getting cheaper and I see less and less homes being sold in this area too.

You can tell he's crazy just by his pic. The guy can't be of sound mind obviously. I'm glad nobody got hurt.
