I see no issues here, he shouldn't have gotten arrested for that. They'll arrest you for anything these days. Rolling Eyes

My internet speed used to be 20Mbps, now I'm getting 116Mbps because Charter bought it. I'm supposed to be on the 60Mbps plan but buying your own modem increases your speed apparently.

The guy came to Shia's Anti-Trump show to start shit and Shia grabbed his scarf and the dude got scratched and fell down and Shia got book for Assault. That just sounds like a bitch getting handled by a slightly manlier bitch. Everything is assault these days, why can't two men just beat the every loving shit out of each other in public and call it good anymore?

Someone tried trolling a racist message about getting out of the country to actor/Obama speech writer Kal Penn on Twitter, who then turned it into a crowd funding campaign for Syrian Refugees in the name of the guy who told him to get out of America and it's already at $204k. Dude tried to troll Kumar and got punked.

I find myself getting frustrated over stupid shit lately. I feel like I'm losing a lot of patience and I blame my work for that. I am endeavoring to leave work at work and forget about it when I leave.

Hope you guys have all been well lately.

I finished The Good Place season one the other day. Really good show if you guys haven't watched it. I liked every character except one: Jian Yu. He was really annoying. You know how there is dumb but reasonably dumb and might do some funny dumb things from time to time? Well, it was a miracle Jian Yu even knew how to breathe because he was just unbelievably stupid. I mean, he was so stupid my suspension of belief was interrupted every time he was on-screen. No one is as stupid as him. I really hate when writers do that. Besides this one issue, the show was very good. All the other characters made up for it.

I also finished season one of The Good Place last week. I liked Jian Yu the Buddhist monk obeying the vow of silence until he become Jason Mendoza who's life ambition was being a DJ around Florida hot spots. However, I feel like they will find the right balance Jason next season and he won't be such a dolt. I remember Dwight Schrute, Andy Dwyer and Charles Boyle all being obnoxious in season ones of their respective shows and then growing with each season, it's a common trait among Schur characters and with sitcoms, it takes time to figure out the balance of stupidity that is acceptable.

I loved that twist at the end when they revealed what The Good Place really was and that only five of the characters truly mattered. Made me hopeful for a much more entertaining second season. I watched simply because it was another Mike Schur series which always get funnier as they go and they had a great ensemble as typical for his shows. I also enjoyed the entirely serialized nature which made it a more enjoyable binge.

Something tells me that if Trump repels the Johnson Amendment, that Tom Cruise will run for President with the Scientologist party. Also, I love that Trump is talking about religious freedom and oppression while at the same time heading the largest anti-Muslim campaign we've ever seen.

Tesla’s Model S P100D set a new 0-60 time of 2.28 seconds............ Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

The acceleration in Tesla’s Model S P100D is absolutely ludicrous, with or without the California-based car maker’s pricey performance option and “Ludicrous Mode” Easter egg. There is simply no other widely available production car on the planet that can pin passengers’ heads back like Tesla’s top-of-the-line Model S. So, when Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that a new software update would bring even faster acceleration to the P100D, it was a bit difficult to believe. As it turns out, however, the company’s latest update has managed a new 0-60 record that is even faster than Tesla thought it would be.

In a tweet last month, Musk stated that early tests of the Model S P100D’s updated Ludicrous Mode were “promising,” with the car having achieved a blistering 0-60 mph time of 2.34 seconds using the Motor Trend spec. Well, Tesla’s big update is now available, and Motor Trend got its hands on a fresh new Model S to test the update.

The results were nothing short of pure insanity.

In Motor Trend’s tests, the newly update Model S P100D managed a 0-60 mph time of just 2.28 seconds. Or, to be more accurate, 2.275507139 seconds. That’s faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo S, and faster than a Ferrari LaFerrari. In fact, no production car had ever cracked the 2.3-second mark in any of the magazine’s tests until now.

“Launching a Model S P100D (weighing 5,062 with gear and driver) in full-on Ludicrous Easter-egg mode snaps your body in a manner that is utterly impossible to replicate in any other street-legal production car on normal tires and dry asphalt at a mid-$100,000 price point,” Motor Trend’s Frank Markus and Brian Brantley wrote. “We regard 0-30-mph acceleration times as the benchmark for how hard a car launches, and this new Tesla gets there 0.05 second ahead of the next quickest (aforementioned) 0.92-second 911 Turbo S. The two run pretty even through 40 mph, after which the Tesla pulls ahead, maintaining a 0.2-second lead from 60 mph through 90 mph. The two cross the quarter-mile mark together at 10.5 seconds, at which point the Tesla is running 125.0 mph, and the Porsche is traveling 6.8 mph faster.”

Veterans Group Using SNL Ad Buy to Confront Trump

A veterans group is hoping to get President Donald Trump‘s attention during this weekend’s Saturday Night Live.

VoteVets, which is described as a progressive political action committee backed by more than 500,000 veterans, military family members and their supporters, has bought commercial airtime during Saturday’s Alec Baldwin-fronted SNL, furthering its efforts to try and convince POTUS not to abolish the Affordable Care Act.

The pointed commercial (embedded below) first aired during the Feb. 6 edition of MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

It begins with a close-up of a veteran doing squats with a heavy barbell. As the camera pulls back, it reveals he only has one leg, the other having been amputated above the knee. During his workout, the vet’s voiceover reads the following message aloud:

President Trump, I hear you watch the morning shows. Here’s what I do every morning. Look, you lost the popular vote, you’re having trouble drawing a crowd and your approval rating keeps sinking. But kicking thousands of my fellow veterans off their health insurance by killing the Affordable Care Act, and banning Muslims, won’t help. That’s not the America I sacrificed for. You want to be a legitimate president, sir? Then act like one.

The group first announced its intent to reach Trump — who seldom seems to miss NBC’s “not funny,” “really bad” SNL —  in a series of tweets:

Hey @realDonaldTrump - remember us? Since you won't meet with vets at the WH, we're airing this ad on #SNL this weekend to get on your TV.

The best way to reach @realDonaldTrump is through his tv set - which is why we bought an ad on tonight's @nbcsnl http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/trump-watching-tv-cables-news-234914 …

Is the dam predicted to fail or has it already failed?

Edit: ah, it appears a part of the dam is eroding. I think it will be okay but it's better safe than sorry. Hopefully nothing happens and the engineers can fix the issues quickly.

They cannot take any more chances than they already have, it's pure neglect that has allowed this situation to happen and a mass tragedy could be on it's way.

Oroville is 770' high, 6,920' long. It is one of the 20 largest dams in the world. If Oroville breaks, The city will be flooded.

Eight thousand three hundred and seventy five residents are at risk within the inundation zone. Two hundred thirty critical facilities in the city of Oroville are within the inundation zone, including; Eleven schools, twenty one day care and children service centers, fourteen elder care facilities, twenty six bridges will be lost, the airport, two fire stations, the government administration building, three law enforcement stations, the EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER (brilliant) Two waste water treatment plants, the jail, and the Hospital. (from the City of Oroville local hazard mitigation plan update May, 2013)

We are not talking about a river rising, where people have time to evacuate. We are talking about a wall of debris, mud, and water taking out a city, buildings, roads, bridges, life, in an instant.

No return home in sight for thousands of Californians sheltering from dam

OROVILLE, Calif. (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of Californians faced an indefinite stay in shelters as engineers worked for a second day on Tuesday to fix the United States' tallest dam before more storms sweep the region.

After what looks set to be the wettest winter in Northern California following years of drought, more rain was forecast for as early as Wednesday and through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Crews were working to shore up an overflow channel and drain the reservoir at the Lake Oroville Dam but authorities gave no indication of when it would be safe for people to go home.

Late on Sunday, about 188,000 residents were ordered to evacuate their homes in the Feather River valley below the dam, 65 miles (105 km) north of Sacramento.

Authorities say they had averted the immediate danger of a catastrophic failure at the dam that could unleash a wall of water three stories tall on towns below.

“We're doing everything we can to get this dam in shape that they can return and they can live safely without fear. It’s very difficult," California Governor Jerry Brown told reporters during a news conference on Monday evening.

On Monday, Brown sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump asking him to issue an emergency declaration, which would open up federal assistance for the affected communities, after an emergency overflow channel appeared on the brink of collapse.

Yolanda Davila, 62, of Thermalito, ended up at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico, one of only five in the area taking people with pets. She left home without medicine and dog food in the rush to find shelter before the evacuation deadline.

She said that areas such as Sacramento had been issued flood warnings earlier in the week and that authorities should have warned residents near Oroville much sooner.

"We didn't have a plan, all we knew is to head north toward Chico," Davila said. "If I knew we had to get out earlier I would have went to the Bay Area."

The earth-filled dam is just upstream and east of Oroville, a town of about 16,000 people. At 770 feet (230 meters) high, the structure, built between 1962 and 1968, it is more than 40 feet taller than the Hoover Dam.

On Monday afternoon, crews dropped large bags filled with rocks into a gap at the top of the emergency spillway to rebuild the eroded hillside.

The main spillway, a separate channel, is also damaged because part of its concrete lining fell apart last week. Both spillways are to the side of the dam itself, which has not been compromised, engineers said.

Watched a few news broadcasts on the Oroville situation. It looks pretty bad. Hopefully the engineers can figure something out but I'm not sure they would be able to do anything if it rains again. You can't stop mother nature.

They told everybody to go ahead and move back home while they hope they can fix it before the Dam gives. A possible Mass Scale Darwin Award Presentation on a Noahless Ark sized level? Man, that's pure irony....

Been trying to follow this Oroville Dam situation. Some reports are saying it is okay while some other sources like youtube is saying the media is lying and the situation is fucked.

So it's Friday. What are you's guys' plans? I was going to go to TGI Friday tonight and eat the endless apps with some of my buddies but we are postponing that until next Friday. In case you guys didn't know, the endless apps are no longer a promotion. It's permanent. And now you don't have to only get one app forever. You can have whatever apps you want on refill. Woo hoo.

Yes, I know. TGI Friday sucks. It's more of a nostalgia thing for me. Reminds us of our university days.

Anybody who moves back into that path is tempting fate and screaming for their Darwin so I will not mourn the dead.

In other news, I've been looking into getting my real estate license as a side gig since my little hometown is wide open on very affordable property for residential and industrial development and I'm just not feeling safe about playing stocks anymore and now I find myself needing to continue my investing in devours. So I've been reading all of the latest Real Estate books written since the last crash and studying up on everything I can and as far as getting the license that is no sweat; it's 90 hours of book learnin I can do on the interwebs and then a two hour multiple choice test so I'm fairly certain I can pass........but if I don't it only cost another $40 and then I can just take the test again the next day and the day after that since apparently there's no limit to how many times you can retake your real estate license test in my state..... Razz

TGIF always makes me think of the women who prematurely ushered me into manhood during the early to mid 90's, primarily the ladies of Step By Step. Cool

I bought myself a new tent yesterday.

Generally try and go out a couple times a year, and realised I didn't go once last year - main reason was I hated my old tent. Worst of it all is I spent most of last year unemployed and sitting at home on my arse. No reason I couldn't have spent as much time out and about as I wanted.

So that's what I'm doing. Waiting for my new tent to arrive, then spending a weekend in the bush ... then I'm coming home to start looking for a job.
