Currently at NY Comicom. Place is crazy. Taking a break.
That was the first movie to come to mind. What made you think of it?
OHhhh you're at the Con, I was wondering where you've been. I was worried you were working.....Did you check out the AEW panel?!?!

Re: Random Thoughts
Since it's October, I tend to watch some horror movies more than anything else. This movie came to mind after watching You're Next. The typical "friend invites friends to house, someone starts killing everyone one by one" type of crap. So I thought about April Fool's Day but I only knew the major twist ending and couldn't put my finger on the name as I had only read about it.
I'll have to find a way to watch it. Looks fun even though I already know how it ends.
Comicom was cool but I didn't see any panels. Panels happen on Friday and Saturday and I don't go those days because it's even crazier than on Sunday and Sunday is already packed as hell.
I did pick up a few indie comics and will be reading them. Graphic novel shit and full-run single story novels. Love it.

I miss the days of actual physical video stores. Streaming is great and all but they don't really have the obscure titles that I used to find at my local video store like in the heyday of VHS. April Fool's Day was one of many 80's horror titles I rented back in the day but I highly doubt it's one that'll be found on streaming.
Did you at least pick up any cosplay babes? Nothin quite like a woman who openly announces to the world that she's into role play. Just lettin that freak flag fly.

I agree. I really miss Blockbuster.
There was a girl at the Blockbuster I frequented who was super cute. Unfortunately, back then my testicles had not yet dropped so I was too scared to talk to her.
Besides her, the selection was always well-stocked and I never had any trouble getting a new film on release day. I still remember how expensive it was but that was the one thing I enjoyed spending money.

I used to love meeting women at the video store, a lot of single ladies were just lookin for someone to watch a movie with on a Friday night. Fuckin streaming totally salted my game....
My video store wasn't a blockbuster and they had movie subscription passes for around $20 a month that allowed me to rent UNLIMITED movies so I'd get a bag full from the time I was a youngin through high school.
As much as I love streaming, I definitely miss my trips to the video store.

Cartman Is an Anti-Vaxxer So He Doesn’t Become ‘Artistic’ in ‘South Park’ 300th Episode
For its 300th episode, “South Park” is taking on the anti-vaxxer movement, with Eric Cartman refusing to get his immunization shots.
“It’s my personal belief that governments should not coerce citizens into receiving medical interventions,” Cartman said in the clip, which you can watch above. “And besides, I don’t want to risk immunizations making me artistic.”
Here is the logline for the episode, titled “SHOTS!”
Randy revels in a Tegridy Farms milestone. Meanwhile, Cartman stands his ground and refuses to get a shot.
For its 23rd season, “South Park” has already touched on the migrant crisis and has critiqued how Hollywood tailors its content to appease Chinese government censors.
Earlier this month, Comedy Central agreed to a new deal with Matt Stone and Trey Parker to keep the longrunning cartoon for an additional three seasons, which will take “South Park” through Season 26 and 327 episodes.
“South Park” is the longest-running primetime scripted series on cable and will surpass its 300th episode this season — though that still leaves it some 300 episodes shy (and counting) of that other long-running animated series in “The Simpsons.” Among young adults, “South Park” has been the highest-rated cable comedy in primetime for the last six years.
For its 300th episode, Comedy Central will run an all-day marathon on Wednesday.

The best season of South Park was 20. That shit was out of control and had me laughing from episode one through ten.
I'll check out this episode because the whole anti-vaccine movement was huge here in NYC.

I member season 20....not one of my favorites but I still member it. Didn't care for the election nonsense.
I prefer the stuff around Tegredy Farms and the PC Babies.

I'm a big fan of Jeopardy, I watched it every night for years, pretty much grew up on it. Just read that Alex Trebek has stage 4 pancreatic cancer with a 1% survival rate and he's enduring another round of chemo. That really sucks, I can't imagine the show without him and I've been watching it for nearly three decades now.

I'd read that he had cancer but was in chemo though I hadn't heard anything in a long time so I thought it was in remission. Now he's on a fast track to death.

Clerks III Is Based on Kevin Smith's Real-Life Heart Attack
Kevin Smith says that the plot of “Clerks 3” will revolve around the main character Randal recovering from a heart attack, a story that’s inspired by the director’s own comeback after a severe heart attack that nearly killed him back in 2018.
Smith shared the plot details exclusively with TheWrap while promoting his new movie “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot” and after announcing last week that he is working on a new “Clerks 3” script.
The director says “Clerks 3” will begin with cynical video store-turned fast food cashier Randal (Jeff Anderson) suffering a heart attack and having something of a mid-life crisis after his near death experience. What he and his buddy Dante (Brian O’Halloran) do from there might be the most meta and personal twist Smith has come up with yet.
“Randal has a heart attack, decides that he came so close to death, and his life has meant nothing, there’s nobody to memorialize him, he has no family or anything like that,” Smith said. “And in the recovery, while under fentanyl, he comes to the conclusion at mid-life, having almost died, having worked in a movie store his whole life and watched other people’s movies, he tells Dante, I think we need to make a movie. So Dante and Randal make ‘Clerks.’ That’s the story of ‘Clerks 3.'”
Smith describes the story as the closest one yet to his own biography, with Dante and Randal figuring out how turn the people and stories in their lives into characters. They’ll even be forced to film, as Smith did, in black and white, and Smith intends for the movie-within-a-movie scenes in “Clerks 3” to also be in black and white.
“I’m going to bring my boys right back to where they brought me. I’m writing it, it writes itself because I f—ing lived it 25 years ago,” Smith said. “It’s just warm and f—ing wonderful. They’re figuring it out the same way I figured it out, but I have the benefit of being able to cherry pick all my favorite stories and moments of making ‘Clerks’ and putting it right back into their hands.”
For instance, Smith said he had the joy of writing a character based on his real life friend Jason Mewes and teaching him how to perform it. The new film will also feature a scene in which Randal and Dante are writing a character based on the Jay that they know always hanging around outside their stores.
“I get to do that same f—ing movie and scene in the movie,” Smith said. “I get to relive everything and put it into the hands of Dante and Randal. So it’s funny and poignant, but it’s more funny than anything else.”
Smith reiterated that this idea is different from his previous iteration of “Clerks 3,” which he and a cast of friends performed in a live read in New Jersey this August. That version also lacked the involvement of Jeff Anderson, who had become estranged from Smith in recent years. But Smith says the two have patched things up, and the new version of the film will have a massive shift in tone from the “doom and gloom” of the original screenplay.
“That was a movie that was written by a guy who was obsessed with middle-aged and dying, and it was all about death. And that was before I almost died. Then I almost died, and now I don’t really want to talk about that s—. I’ve been too close. Now I just want to do life affirming things. The tone is going to shift completely,” Smith said. “I owe those guys, those characters, Dante and Randal, a lot more than the kind of doom and gloom I was about to put them through. I loved that script, and I loved reading it, but there wasn’t a dry eye in the house for the last 15 pages, the last 15 minutes of that entire read.”
The original “Clerks” was based on Smith’s life in his 20s, the sequel was about his 30s, and while the third film was meant to be about middle age to death, reading it live made him realize he needed to go in a different direction.
“It’s a f—ing tearjerker. It’s like the ‘King Lear’ of ‘Clerks’ movies. It’s really unbelievably moving and sad, but it’s not what I want to do with those guys for this,” Smith said. “You would’ve seen the old ‘Clerks 3’ and been like, did the guy who made ‘Clerks’ forget that ‘Clerks’ was a comedy?”
Smith’s “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot” opens in theaters via Fathom Events on Oct. 15 and Oct. 17 and will be followed by a 62-city road tour.

I hope Kevin can return to form, his horror comedies were unwatchable for me and it's been a long time since he made a movie I actually enjoyed but I'm gonna keep hoping he surprises.

Kevin Smith Claims WWE Pulled His Invite to FOX Premiere After Appearance on AEW Dynamite
Last week’s series premiere of AEW Dynamite on TNT saw special appearances from Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes, who were seated ringside throughout the show and even mixed it up verbally with tag team stars Angelico and Jack Evans.Smith was a guest on The Rich Eisen Show this week along with AEW World Champion Chris Jericho, and revealed that he and Mewes were actually invited to be a part of the WWE Friday Night Smackdown debut – until their invite was pulled following the appearance on AEW television.“…and then the morning after we were on the AEW show – it trended, and there was a lot of coverage and stuff – and so the next morning we were told that WWE was like, ‘You can’t come on anymore’. They cancelled us. We couldn’t come on anymore.” … “Can you believe it? It felt really weird, man! There was a line drawn in the sand, and they pushed us on to the one side of it.”
As for Jericho, the six-time WWE world champion isn’t worried about competition from his former employer, and doesn’t consider AEW to be “at war” with anyone.“Just by the fact that we exist, it made WWE angry. They’ve been the monopoly for so long. Are we competition? I guess figuratively we are, but for us it’s an alternative. It’s an option. They put one of their shows up against ours on a Wednesday night, which is fine. Some people are proclaiming it the Wrestling Wars, or the Wednesday Night Wars. We’re not at war with WWE. You could put the Super Bowl up against us. We can’t worry about what the counter-programming is. We’re just worried about doing our own show, and doing the best show that we can do.”

Another Rocky movie I'll be skipping, I think that makes about eight consecutive movies in the last three years. Do any of you guys still watch his work? I don't know why he's so hung up on making these super ridiculous kids movies, at this point he could make anything he'd want but it's always a CGI slathered shit fest.

He's a whore for Chinese movie money. Nobody makes money talking bad about China. Just ask the NBA.
The last movie of his I enjoyed, was his first Fast & Furious movie - Fast 5 in 2011 - and Pain & Gain in 2013.

Yeah the timing definitely isn't good. Whether Dave's jokes had anything to do with it or not, I can't imagine they won't try to blame him for it just because they can.

Alright, homies, I gotz a question for you car experts.
I am looking to purchase a portable tire pump. Preferable, I would like one that you can set the PSI, plug it in, and then when the tire reaches the desired PSI, the pump disengages.
So why do I want one of these? I had gone to my local gas station which had an air pump. My car's tire pressure management system was indicating my tires were under-inflated. Anyways, I proceed to use the pump which has a built-in tire pressure gauge. The gauge was saying my tires were at 20psi (which I know was wrong because 20 is pretty damn soft). Anyways, I pump up my tires until the gauge read 35 which is what the sticker in my door jamb says.
It's been cold here overnight and I know tires typically lose some PSI when it gets cold. I had a trip upstate this weekend so I went to a different air pump station. That one indicated my tires were like 50+ PSI. Uhhhh, okay. I don't pump, made my trip.
I had ordered a JACO tire pressure gauge. When I tested my tires, the gauge read 50+. Oops. I adjusted the pressure down for all tires.
Okay, that was a long-ass post with probably TMI but that is the reason I want my own tire pump. I don't want to pay for fucked up machines and I want my own piece of mind so I can keep my tires fresh all year.
Do any of you guys have any sweet recommendations? Accurate (+/- 1psi), and durable, of course.

I've always just used a cheap hand held gauge whenever I put air in my tires. When I worked in oil change shops I rarely ever found that the built in gauges were accurate and 50+ is a great way to make your tires blow out and develop horrible tire wear. I know you're lookin for one of them fancy city slicker devices that'll make it super easy for you but I've never had a single issue with my cheap $2 pen style gauge and it only takes a few seconds to use while I have had nothing but issues with digital gauges over the years.

The tire gauge I have is not digital. It's a plain ol' analog one. No batteries required.
I would use it while I pump my tires but the fucking machines here charge $1 for three minutes. A couple of times I had to pay twice. Foonk dat.
I'd rather just buy my own. If it lasts me two years it will have paid for itself. The ones I'm looking at are about $40.
But you're right. There is a tire place near me which has a free air machine. I'll look into that and bring my gauge with me.

In the city they charge you for tire air? It's free at every gas station where I live.
You could buy twenty gauges for the price of that one!
Random unrelated question....
Can you guys see the stars at night or do you all live in big cities where the smog and lights block them out? I was recently talking with someone who mentioned that it'd been years since they'd seen the stars in the sky at night and I realized that I see them every single night and I can't even recall one night where I didn't. Is this something that you just accept like not seeing the night sky is perfectly acceptable to you cause to me, it's kind of mind blowing.....

According to Jeremy Renner's ex-wife he's a coke head drunk who threatened to kill himself and her with his loaded pistol which he also stuck into his own mouth before apparently firing off into the ceiling of his house which just so happened to also be the floor of his six year old daughter's bedroom. According to his six year old, she named more than half a dozen women who Renner had come over to the house.
So what are they saying here that Renner is having coke orgies at home while his six year daughter is also home and he introduces them??
That is Disney level deviancy.
His music is just so atrocious though that being a coke head might actually explain why he thinks that dog shit is good. I just figured he was worn down by years of Marvel scripts and could no longer tell what "good" was.

Shit. Just recently I'd been talking to someone about that. I saw it on a car show, and one of the guys had to pay for air. I couldn't believe it, but I'm pretty sure it was in California, so it then immediately made sense.
I actually have my own air-compressor that I need for work, so I bought the attachment and can do my own at home.
They don't charge for air here though, but I'm sure it will happen eventually. Might already be done in the city, but I never go to it so I wouldn't know.

Yep. I've always lived in a place you can see the stars. Couldn't imagine how weird it would be without seeing them.
Random related tidbit....
I watched a Paul Hogan interview once (from just after his Crocodile Dundee fame), and he said that when he was in the US doing press for it, an American asked him if we could see the Moon from Australia

There is a sticker where it tells you how many PSI you need for your tires? I didn't know that. I always do 32 PSI.

Damn! This would definitely explain a lot. His music is not good. I think it's a mid-life crisis thing.

There's usually a decal in one of the front door jams. Has tyre pressure, tyre size, tow capacity, etc. How do you not know that

Charging for air is crazy but we've been getting charged for water for years, so why not air now too? Progress, am I right?
Not seeing the stars at night is a sad perspective. If I couldn't see the stars, I'd just move or you know never move somewhere without stars to begin with.
See the Moon?? I've never heard anybody ask about separate moons before. What did Hogan say to that question???

Yup right inside the door jam and the max pressure is stamped on every tire sidewall near the lip of the wheel...
There is a lot of useful information in your door jam. I had to read them every day when I worked in auto parts so I got used to reading them. You can find info from the manufacture date of your car to your cars paint color code here too.

Yea, most gas stations charge about $1 for air.
There is a Mavis (regional tire maintenance/retail shop) near my house which actually provides free air. Their machine is digital. You input the PSI you want, put it on the tire, and it automagically stops when the desired PSI is reached.
It has gone out of order before which is the reason I wanted to buy my own compressor.
The days of free air compression in NYC is long gone. The last time I saw a place offer free air had to be over 15 years ago. It's a good thing NYC folk are all so extravagantly rich so we can just throw money at these necessities.

What about oil change shops? Cars used to roll into my work all the time for a tire check and we'd hit the tires and send em on their way for free.
New Yorkers, always Scrooge Mcduckin your home banks.

I have not checked out the oil change places. Maybe I should. I'll definitely buy my own eventually. Maybe when the free spot goes out of order again.

I noticed the stickers of course but never paid attention to what's on them.

The one I use is digital too and it's free. Some places do charge $1 for air though but I never go to those places.

Yes, UM. Here is another fun fact: Your "low fuel" indicator light tells you which side your gas cap is on your car.
The little symbol is a fuel pump. If the fuel pump handle is on the right, then your gas cap is on the left side of your car. And vice versa. The indicator tells you the orientation of the pump so you can refuel if you somehow forget on which side your gas cap is on your car.
