Amityville: The Awakening (Now Streaming)

Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.

I have seen absolutely no marketing for this and a January 2nd release it a total wasteland. I don't understand this choice because Platinum Dunes was planning on launching a whole new trilogy with this.

They delayed this a year and a half and yet intend to launch a new franchise with it? What are they doing waiting for Cameron and Bella to become more marketable stars in the meantime?

AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING, is a revival of the popular franchise and a modern twist on the classic horror film.
In the film, Belle and her family move into a new house, but when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.
AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING is directed by Franck Khalfoun (MANIAC, P2) and produced by groundbreaking and top horror producer Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions (THE PURGE, INSIDIOUS, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY).
The film stars Oscar Nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh (THE HATEFUL EIGHT, ANAMOLISA, SINGLE WHITE FEMALE), popular young actress Bella Thorne (SCREAM, SHAKE IT UP) and up and comer Cameron Monaghan (SHAMELESS, THE GIVER).

'Amityville: The Awakening' Loses Summer Release Date at the 11th Hour
The Weinstein Co. and Dimension Films were finally supposed to release the latest installment in the classic horror franchise later this month.
Amityville: The Awakening is losing its prime summer release date at the 11th hour.
The Weinstein Co./Dimension Films announced Wednesday that the horror movie will no longer hit theaters on June 30.
Dimension partnered with Blumhouse Productions on The Awakening, which stars Bella Thorne, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Cameron Monaghan, Thomas Mann and Kurtwood Smith.
The umpteenth installment in the classic horror franchise has been pushed back numerous times. This time, no new release date has been announced.
The Awakening, directed by Franck Khalfoun, was first supposed to hit theaters in January 2015. It was pushed back April 2017 before relocating to Jan. 6, 2017, then to June.
The story follows a young girl who moves into a new home with her single mother and comatose young brother, who makes a miraculous recovery as other strange phenomena occurs.
Amityville: The Awakening was first supposed to open in January 2015.

After three years sitting on a shelf this movie went into limited release two weeks ago and hit torrent sites today.

Oh I only just noticed it today, I hadn't heard anything. If it was good do you think it would have taken three years to release in a limited run? They had a movie starring Bella Thorne, they knew they couldn't do anything with it. Netflix just dumps her movies right onto streaming where she belongs.
