Not surprised, the first one did as well.

Aside from The Matrix, cyber punk themed sci-fi doesn't do well
at the box office.

And neither does Gosling.

The Other Guys is the only movie of Gosling I liked in the last 5 years or so.

I was introduced to Gosling way back in the Mickey Mouse Club days with Timberlake, Britney and Xtina but in all of his long career I think the only roles that ever stood out for me where in his early days when he didn't make such pretentious bullshit like Murder By Numbers, The United States of Leland, The Believer and Stay. But ever since he hooked up with Derek Cianfrance nearly a decade ago on that movie that was about as enjoyable as dental work Blue Valentine, and it's been all down hill ever since with the sole exception of Drive where he almost never talked and maybe that's why I enjoyed it and that was also the last movie of Gosling's I was able to finish watching without total hatred.

I think you mean Nice Guys. The Other Guys was Ferrell and Whalberg (but did have Goslings baby mama Mendes).

Remember the Titans was the first thing I saw him in. Nothing else he did was half interesting until Drive, then Nice Guys for me.

Lol, I actually really enjoyed Other Guys while Nice Guys will not get a repeat viewing out of me.

The original can't commit to the noir and has significantly more style than substance.

I feel like 2049 has all the style and much better substance and story. The "love story" aspect makes a hell of a lot more sense too
