Gina Carano is Angel Dust
Deadpool ($771,191,235) Gina-c10

Gina Carano has closed a deal to join Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool, Fox's action movie based on the wisecracking mercenary Marvel character.

Tim Miller is directing the action adventure project, which is eyeing a March start in Vancouver. Lauren Shuler Donner is producing.

Reynolds is an assassin who is dying of cancer who undergoes a procedure that is supposed to cure him but ends up twisted and scarred while also imbued with super-powers.
T.J. Miller is set to bring comedic relief to the movie in an undisclosed role. And, fanboy alert: The Russian X-Men character known as Colossus is slated to appear in the movie.
Carano will play a character known as Angel Dust. It is unclear how she fits into the proceedings, but in the Marvel comics, the character was part of The Morlocks, an underground group of mutants less equipped to fit into human society due to their mutations -- who first appeared in the 2002 "Morlocks" series, created by writer Geoff Johns (in his pre-DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer days) and artist Shawn Martinbrough. THR's report says it's not known at this point how closely connected -- if at all -- Carano's character will be to the comic book version.

T.J. Miller is always great for comedic relief, he's a big reason I liked the first season of Silicon Valley so much.

I love that Gina's character is named after a hellaciously fucked up drug.

Deadpool ($771,191,235) Deadpo10

According to THR, Morena Baccarin has nabbed the female lead in Tim Miller's Deadpool movie. Specifics on her character are not revealed, but the site confirms that she will be playing the Merc with a Mouth's love interest, who "grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face." The prevailing theory is that she'll be playing Vanessa Carlyle, aka Copycat, but aside from the leaked script a few years ago we don't really have any solid evidence to back that up. Baccarin beat the likes of Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black), Crystal Reed (Teen Wolf), Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Red Band Society), Sarah Greene (Vikings) and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow) to the role. Ed Skrein (possibly Ajax), T.J. Miller (probably Weasel) and Gina Carano (Angel Dust) are also locked in for roles.

Cool! We've already seen the mask on that first pic. Looking forward to seeing the whole thing. I don't think they're going to make any drastic changes to the costume, they're trying to redeem the character after all. We'll probably see an exact replica of the comics version.

Reynolds Says DEADPOOL Shows “Slavish Devotion” to the Character

Fans who have been waiting forever for Deadpool don’t have that much longer to go, relatively speaking, and star Ryan Reynolds says the filmmakers are taking great care not to betray the character in the translation to the screen. Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been shepherding their script through the development process at Fox with care and, as mentioned before, one of the benefits of doing something like this on the cheap (at least when compared to other superhero movies) is the ability to be more specific and edgy with the IP. Deadpool is a bit less kid-friendly than some of the other superheroes.

When Shortlist asked Reynolds how he felt about the film finally getting made he replied:

“I’m incredibly happy about it – we’ve got a director that understands that world, and writers with a slavish devotion to the canon of that character. That’s the most important aspect: it’s made in a way the most critical of fanboys could embrace. Well, that’s the hope.”

And hopefully they can pull it off. Deadpool also stars Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano and T.J. Miller and will be directed by Tim Miller (who also helmed the leaked test footage that helped nudge the project along). The movie starts shooting this month and opens in theaters on February 12, 2016.

So there you have the logo which will presumably be used in marketing materials for Deadpool, along with confirmation that Morena Baccarin is playing "Vanessa". That's obviously Vanessa Carlyle, a character better known as Copycat (she appeared in Deadpool's debut issue - New Mutants 98 - but was disguised as Domino at the time).

Deadpool ($771,191,235) Deadpo10

“Deadpool” is going to be a serious superhero movie that takes itself very seriously, judging by the first official photo shared by star Ryan Reynolds.

The titular Marvel superhero is seen lounging in front of a romantic roaring fire, wearing the suit that, according to Reynolds, will be the official costume used in the film.

“With great power, comes great irresponsibility,” Reynolds captioned the photo. He later added, “No bears were harmed in the making of this photo. Though many bears likely turned on,” and also shared the original photo of Burt Reynolds draped across a bearskin rug that served as the inspiration for his “Deadpool” photoshoot.

Tim Miller is directing the comic book movie, which finds Reynolds playing an assassin who undergoes a procedure to cure his cancer that leaves him twisted, scarred and super-powered. And glib. Very, very glib.

Reynolds first played the assassin, nicknamed the Merc Without a Mouth, in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”

Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller and Gina Carano will co-star in the film, which is now shooting for a Feb. 12, 2016 release.

The suit is awesome and just as I expected. I love it! I knew they would stick close to the comics and not try to make him look cool by making him more modern. This will work!

It's not the suit, it's that Ryan Reynolds thinks it's hilarious to make the debut shot of this iconic character by recreating a 40 year old Play Girl photo shoot by another Reynolds. Of all the thousands of comic covers they went that route? Just an absolute fail in my opinion and kind of makes me hate Ryan even more.

Deadpool ($771,191,235) Empty Re: Deadpool ($771,191,235)

Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that his currently shooting Deadpool standalone film will be rated R. And he's done so in the best April Fools joke way possible. Watch:

It all started this morning when Reynolds tweeted what seemed to be an indication of something that many fans of the character have feared: That the film would be toned down for a PG-13 rating:

A PG-13 #deadpool will still have 4th wall breaking, a shit-ton of action and at least 3 chimichangas. Zero need to panic. I promise.

Reynolds followed with this tweet, however, and the video:

February 12th. There will be blood. Guns. F-bombs. And graphic, expertly lit French Unicorn sex. #deadpoolRatedR @deadpoolmovie #Aprilpools

Nope, I have no doubt that I will never find Reynolds funny, so thanks for the confirmation. Cool

Here's a few links with BTS pics that the stalkerazzi snapped of a few of the cast members but you can tell what Reynolds is going to look like in the film.
