Wild Card (Kickpuncher)
This looks really fucking good. I have to say that while I will always enjoy watching him just kick the living shit out of people, I want to see more movies of his that have more of a story more of a depth to the character he plays.
For me, the most shocking and surprising movie I've ever seen him in was "safe" which he was not even remotely close to the most over the top part in the movie. His character was a lot better drawn that most of his roles, and I really fucking enjoyed that one a lot.
I also liked Home Front with him and James Franco.
This looks to be another one that's going for not just a Kickpuncher movie but a movie that just happens to feature a guy who can kickpunch. This is apparently a remake of Burt Reynold's Heat from what reviewers are saying.
I'm definitely seeing this. Had never even heard about it until today.

Nick Wild (Jason Statham) is a Las Vegas bodyguard with lethal professional skills and a personal gambling problem. When a friend is beaten by a sadistic thug, Nick strikes back, only to find out the thug is the son of a powerful mob boss. Suddenly Nick is plunged into the criminal underworld, chased by enforcers and wanted by the mob. Having raised the stakes, Nick has one last play to change his fortunes...and this time, it's all or nothing. From two-time Academy® Award-winning writer William Goldman (Best Original Screenplay, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, 1969; Best Adapted Screenplay, All the President's Men, 1976).

Seems like a good movie and Milo from Heroes is also in it. I'll check it out.

Re: Wild Card (Kickpuncher)
I loooooove me some Jason Statham ass-kicking, face-punching action. I'm in.
Side note: The end of the trailer says "In theaters and on iTunes January 30". So they going to do a theater and digital release simultaneously. Interesting! I bet a lot of studios are going to test those waters now.

I'll be checking this out. Looks good.
Yeah Joey, seems it's becoming a common thing with movies at the lower end of the scale, and I'm all for it. I think they're starting to figure out not everyone goes to the movies, and sitting around waiting 6 months for a home release means that a) by the time it comes out people have forgotten about it, and b) you have to spend money on a second lot of advertising. A movie like this will benefit more from a simultaneous release.
Unfortunately it's also the death knell of DVD/Blu-Ray. Digital releases save the distributors a lot of money. Once they get over this Geo-blocking horseshit, and have simultaneous worldwide releases, they'll soon figure out there's more money to be saved/made in one hit.

Re: Wild Card (Kickpuncher)
A lot of movies on VUDU are "see it before it hits Theaters" or "see it while it's still in theaters". so yeah they're definitely embracing that, and have been for awhile. But not for AAA titles, mostly niche types.

If he had actually put Statham's name I would have corrected it anyways, but he knows the game.

Cheers to that! I'm hoping for it as well. I hope he's not too busy with his schedule this year.

Re: Wild Card (Kickpuncher)
So it appears the movie it's a remake of is Burt Reynolds' "Heat".
I found this clip which was fucking hilarious for so many reasons, not least of which is "Ozzy Wozzy."

He's a series regular on both the upcoming ABC series The Whispers and his Crackle series Chosen which is something like three seasons in now. I have yet to start that one but I intend to soon.

I watch Chosen and it's been great so far. Those episodes are very short, not your average 40 minute episodes. I think he can make time for appearance on the show if shot in the summer.

They released it on iTunes/VUDU for rental last night at midnight. Anytime a movie hits iTunes, a Web-DL shows up within an hour.
