Death Row's Suge Knight Just Killed A Man
Suge Knight was involved in a deadly hit-and-run accident Thursday at a promotional shoot for the upcoming Universal release “Straight Outta Compton,” according to media reports. Knight’s attorney is currently working with authorities to arrange for the hip-hop mogul to turn himself in, Los Angeles television station KABC reported Thursday night.
The fatal collision occurred at 2:55 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Rosecrans Avenue in Compton, California, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement issued to TheWrap.
“There are two victims that were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries. A male adult was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim is in unknown condition,” the Sheriff’s Department said.
According to TMZ, a fight broke out between the Death Row Records founder and two members of the film crew. “Suge got back into his car, took the wheel and threw the vehicle in reverse … and ran over a man who suffered fatal injuries,” the entertainment website reported.
His attorney James Blatt told KABC that Knight was attacked by two people and tried to escape in the car.
“Straight Outta Compton” is a biographic drama about the rise of hip-hop group N.W.A. It stars O’Shea Jackson Jr. (as Ice Cube), Corey Hawkins (Dr. Dre), Jason Mitchell (Eazy-E), Aldis Hodge (MC Ren) and Neil Brown Jr. (DJ Yella), while Paul Giamatti will co-star as the group’s manager Jerry Heller.
Hollywood moguls Ice Cube and Dr. Dre and rapper The Game were all on set Thursday shooting a promo for the movie when the deadly crash occurred. Hours before the collision, Ice Cube posted a photo on Instagram of the trio on set.
An individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap the shoot was taking place in several different locations in the area. Ice Cube, Dr. Dre. and The Game were in a separate location and did not witness the collision, the individual said.
Sheriff’s officials said they had received reports that Knight may have been involved, but could not confirm if he played a role in the incident. The investigation is still ongoing and it was unclear if any arrests had been made.
This is not the first time Knight has been associated with violence. He was arrested in October on suspicion of stealing a female photographer’s camera, as TheWrap previously reported.
Knight is currently out on $500,000 bail in connection with incident and is awaiting trial on a robbery charge. He is charged in that case along with comedian Micah “Katt” Williams.
In August, Knight was shot multiple times at a pre-MTV VMA’s party hosted by R&B star Chris Brown.
“Straight Outta Compton” recently wrapped production. The film is slated to arrive in theaters on Aug. 14, 2015.

Early this morning, LASD arrested Suge Knight on suspicion of murder for the fatal hit and run that occurred near the set of the commercial being shot for the upcoming F. Gary Grey-directed N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton. Police say that the former CEO of Death Row Records was booked at the West Hollywood Station around 3 AM. He is being held there in lieu of $2 million bail. The N.W.A. movie, which sees former members of the notorious rap group Dr. Dre and Ice Cube among its producers, is set to come out in August this year.
