Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins dropped a bomb Wednesday when she shared the first set photo from her Wonder Woman sequel showing Chris Pine as Steve Trevor.

Everyone’s favorite lasso-spinning warrior goddess is back — and this time, she brought a familiar friend.

Filming is currently underway for the “Wonder Woman” sequel, officially titled “Wonder Woman 1984.” Patty Jenkins, who is returning to the director’s chair, teased a first look on Wednesday morning of the highly anticipated followup.

Jenkins tweeted out a photo of Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor who (spoiler alert!) blows up during World War I at the end of the first movie.

Nevertheless, he appears looking sharp as ever, albeit confused, in the year 1984.

Gadot also shared a photo of her return as Diana Price — a.k.a. Wonder Woman — standing in front of a window of TV sets.

Jenkins previously revealed that the upcoming superhero sequel will be set in the United States during the 1980s. Kristen Wiig joins as the villainous Cheetah, while Pedro Pascal is also been cast in an undisclosed key role.

This is the eighth installment in the DC Universe franchise, and the fourth movie featuring Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

“Wonder Woman” was a box office sensation last summer, earning $821.8 million worldwide including $412.5 million in North America. The universally acclaimed film became a massive hit for Warner Bros., setting a number of records at the box office. It’s now the highest grossing film with a female director, as well as the 22nd-highest grossing movie of all time in North America and the second-biggest movie of 2017 after “Beauty and the Beast.”

“Wonder Woman 1984” hits theaters on Nov. 1, 2019.

The don’t show Cheetah, don’t really know what the story is and I think having a random story in the 80's fucks up the myth set up between BvS and her solo movie, but looks fun

It doesn't make me feel better. In fact, you see the down-vote on your post....THAT WAS ME! Twisted Evil But I up-voted your trailer post too so there is balance in the Force.  Razz

Not exactly. If they don't make a third WW movie before BvS, this movie should end with her quitting on being a hero and just living among the humans because that's how we found her in BvS. Otherwise it's a plot hole, something should happen to make her feel this way.

‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Flying To Christmas; Gal Gadot Movie Will Open One Week After ‘Dune’
Wonder Woman 1984 ($167 Million Worldwide Box Office) Screen16
As we first told you two days ago, Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman 1984 is vacating its October 2 release date, with the Patty Jenkins-directed movie heading to Christmas. Warners is keeping the Legendary sci-fi movie Dune on the calendar for a December 18 release, and believes the holiday marketplace is big enough for two mega-tentpoles.

The decision by the studio has been in the cards for some time, and exhibition knew this was coming. Also fueling the move is the fact we’re dealing with 30% of the nation’s exhibition marketplace — including Los Angeles, New York City, Miami and San Francisco — still closed. Plus, the Gal Gadot-starring DC sequel came on tracking yesterday like gangbusters; there’s a lot of want-to-see-here, and the year-end holiday marketplace after Top Gun: Maverick departed was in need of a leading marquee tentpole, with Aquaman doing exceptionally well two years ago with its December 7 release, with $335 million domestic and $1.1 billion worldwide.

In addition, if WW84 had stuck on its October release date, it would collide with Warner Bros’ Tenet, which will get an extra boost when NYC and LA theaters reopen; some hope and project that will happen around early October.

“Patty Jenkins is an exceptional filmmaker and with Wonder Woman 1984 she has delivered an incredibly dynamic film that moviegoers of all ages around the world will absolutely love. We’re very proud of the film and look forward to bringing it to audiences for the holidays,” Warner Bros Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich said Friday in a statement about the release-date change.

Jenkins added: “First and foremost let me say how much Gal and I love all our devoted Wonder Woman fans around the world, and your excitement for WW84 couldn’t make us happier or more eager for you to see the movie. Because I know how important it is to bring this movie to you on a big screen when all of us can share the experience together, I’m hopeful you won’t mind waiting just a little bit longer. With the new date on Christmas Day, we can’t wait to spend the holidays with you!”

Wonder Woman 1984 has moved around the calendar a ton, with the studio originally planning a December 13, 2019 release date. Warners than moved it to November 1, 2019, then to the post-Memorial Day frame of June 5, 2020 where the first installment took flight. Subsequent release-date changes had to do with the uncertainty of when theaters would reopen during the pandemic.

Trailers dropped recently for Wonder Woman 1984 at DC Fandom, and two days ago for Dune, both of which didn’t list specific release dates; just that they’d be “in theaters.” Warners isn’t seeing any cannibalization of audiences during the holiday marketplace as Dune skews toward guys and Wonder Woman 1984 toward women — but let’s be honest, who doesn’t see more than one movie over the holiday period?

Wonder Woman 1984 to Premiere on HBO Max This Christmas
Wonder Woman 1984 ($167 Million Worldwide Box Office) Wonder11
Your holiday gifts just got wrapped up with a golden Lasso of Truth.

Warner Bros. Pictures will release Wonder Woman 1984 on HBO Max on Dec. 25, the same day it is released in American theaters, the streaming video site announced Wednesday.

In a shift made because of the global coronavirus pandemic, the sequel to the wildly popular 2017 DC Comics movie will be available to stream at home on Christmas Day. Wonder Woman 1984‘s theatrical release, which originally was slated to take place on June 5, already has been postponed several times.

The film will be available for a month on HBO Max in the United States at no additional cost to subscribers.

Wonder Woman 1984 is set during the Cold War and stars Gal Godot in the title role. Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live) and Chris Pine (the Star Trek films) co-star. Patty Jenkins, who helmed 2017’s Wonder Woman, directs.

Other films that went straight to streaming this year, or were released in limited theaters alongside their streaming debut, include: Palm Springs and Happiest Season on Hulu; Mulan, Hamilton, Black Beauty and Soul on Disney+; Greyhound on Apple TV+; and The Witches on HBO Max.

Why would people go to theaters when it's available at no extra cost? They're going to lose some money on this.

Well according to twitter, the only reason people didn't love this movie was because it was directed by a woman and you don't like that.

That's sound logic to me.

‘Wonder Woman 3’ in the Works With Director Patty Jenkins
Wonder Woman 1984 ($167 Million Worldwide Box Office) Wonder12
Diana Prince is officially heading back to the big screen for a third “Wonder Woman” movie. Warner Bros. has fast-tracked development on another installment in the DC Comics franchise, with Gal Gadot returning to star as the title heroine and Patty Jenkins back to write and direct the upcoming entry.

The announcement comes on the heels of the release of “Wonder Woman 1984,” the studio’s superhero sequel that debuted on the company’s streaming service and in select movie theaters on Christmas Day.

“As fans around the world continue to embrace Diana Prince, driving the strong opening weekend performance of ‘Wonder Woman 1984,’ we are excited to be able to continue her story with our real life Wonder Women — Gal and Patty — who will return to conclude the long-planned theatrical trilogy,” said Warner Bros. chief Toby Emmerich.

Though many opted to watch “Wonder Woman 1984” at home, the film still generated surprisingly robust ticket sales — at least for pandemic times. “Wonder Woman 1984” collected $16.7 million from 2,100 North American theaters, the best opening weekend to date in the coronavirus era.

“‘Wonder Woman 1984’ broke records and exceeded our expectations across all of our key viewing and subscriber metrics in its first 24 hours on the service, and the interest and momentum we’re seeing indicates this will likely continue well beyond the weekend,” said Andy Forssell, head of WarnerMedia’s direct-to-consumer business. “During these very difficult times, it was nice to give families the option of enjoying this uplifting film at home, where theater viewing wasn’t an option.”

I thought the best part of this movie was the love story between Diana and Steven.

The rest of the movie was completely forgettable.

Cool that Patty is coming back to do the third one.

Watched it last night. Yeah, I can't say it's better than the first one. Gal and Chris chemistry is great, definitely the strongest part of the movie.

Gal is just amazing as Wonder Woman. Loved the flying scene with Diana and the Sunshine score with John Murphy, it fit nicely. I liked the whole 80's look too.

Pascal was good but not a great villain, character development was not there.

I expected Wig to have a bigger part in the movie, she was great too as Cheetah. But it's the typical loner nerd who becomes the antagonist story.

Overall, it was enjoyable. Better than some of the DC movies at least.
