The Meg ($530 Million Worldwide Box Office)
“In the film, a deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific…with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that, years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below…bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time.”

I gotta be honest, I've been hearing Statham's name in connection to a giant shark movie for about five years now but until this moment, I always thought it was a joke.

It is gonna be in IMAX and 3D. Of course it is!
This sounds like a big budget SyFy movie only worse.
I'm in (as long as MoviePass is still in business).

I've always known that Statham was never going to Kick Punch his way to an Oscar but with The Meg he seems destined to give Tom Cruise and Adam Sandler a run for their Razzies.

I love that Cliff Curtis and Rainn Wilson are Statham's co-stars in this Megalodon movie, I mean how does that even happen!??!?!
Kick Puncher and Dwight K Schrute team up with Fear the Walking Dead's Travis to fight a massive shark?!?!!?!? WHAT?!??!?!Â

Elsewhere in the top ten, however, a few milestones were reached beginning with WB's The Meg, which added $3.8 million this weekend for a domestic total reaching $137 million. The film also added over $6 million internationally this weekend, bringing its international running cume to $368.2 million for a global tally topping $505 million.

DAMN! That's impressive! I honestly thought this was going to be a flop. Just seemed like one of those films. I will check it out.

Statham was not happy with the final cut being PG-13 and missing all the blood and gore, it was why he signed on for The Meg in the beginning.

Damn! I thought it was rated R, I'm surprised. Gotta agree with Statham. But maybe it wouldn't have made what it made if it was rated R also, who knows...

So you want a sequel like Jaw's 3: The Revenge? A shark with a personal grudge that stalks a family for thousands of miles?
