Now You See Me 2 ($333,007,255)

Post by WyldeMan on 11/18/2015, 9:08 pm

The Four Horsemen [Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco & Lizzy Caplan] return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe. One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, the illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Mabry [Daniel Radcliffe], a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.

I enjoyed the first film. Hopefully this one is good, too. I hope Mark Ruffalo's character is a major character in this one and participates in the scams.

I liked the first and I love Lizzy Caplan, but I'll still miss Isla and Melanie

Looks awesome! I liked the first one. Sucks that Isla didn't return though. What could she possibly be doing besides this? She was great in the first one.

That's similar to what I want except that I want the Horseman to make Ruffalo disappear and by disappear I mean make his head disappear from his body. Twisted Evil

Did some checking, Isla was pregnant with her third child.

So they bought in Lizzie Caplan.

Oh no another demon spawn from her and her serial killer/partner of a husband Borat?

I prefer Lizzie so I'm good with this change but I'll miss Melanie.

I still don't get how they didn't name this Now You Don't or at the very least the clumsy Now You See Me 2: Now You Don't

I know. The title would have been perfect for a sequel. I'm thinking they'll do a third after this, that would explain why.

This was originally carrying the "Second Act" sub-title but was dropped and simply called 2.

Jon Chu Returning to Direct ‘Now You See Me 3’
Jon M. Chu is returning to the director’s chair for Lionsgate’s “Now You See Me 3,” Variety has learned exclusively.

The studio struck a deal with Chu nearly two months before it releases his “Now You See Me 2” on June 10 — a signal that it believes the sequel will perform in the same range as the 2013 original, which took in $351.7 million worldwide.

CEO Jon Feltheimer announced nearly a year ago during a conference call with analysts that Lionsgate had already started planning for the third film, but gave no details.

Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg,  Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine are reprising their roles for “Now You See Me 2,” while Lizzy Caplan has replaced Isla Fisher and Daniel Radcliffe has joined the cast.

Feltheimer said at the time that Lionsgate believed that “Now You See Me 2” would top the gross for the original comedy caper in 2013.

Chu is directing “Now You See Me 2”  from a script by Ed Solomon and Peter Chiarelli. Producers are Alex Kurtzman and Bobby Cohen.

Eisenberg, Harrelson, Fisher and Franco played magicians who engineered a multi-million heist of a Parisian bank with financing by an insurance magnate (Caine). Louis Leterrier directing the original.

Besides “Now You See Me 2,” Chu’s directing credits include “Step Up 2: The Streets,” “Step Up 3D,” “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” and “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.”

I wasn't sure about a 3rd and it's still early but I welcome it.

I'll watch another, but they definitely need to switch things up. Too much CGI and too many old characters in 2, but the end sets them up to move forward.
