Quite a few big upcoming movies started production this week, including the next film in Universal’s franchise of Dan Brown adaptations. The Da Vinci Code and its follow-up Angels & Demons were both sizeable box office successes, and director Ron Howard and Co. are indeed moving right along with the next entry, Inferno. Based on Brown’s novel of the same name, the story finds Tom Hanks’ Robert Langdon waking up in an Italian hospital with amnesia and subsequently teaming up with Dr. Sienna Brooks (played by Felicity Jones) to try and recover his memories. They also attempt to prevent a madman from releasing a global plague connected to Dante’s Inferno.

Inferno is actually the fourth book in Brown’s series of novels, and while a feature film adaptation of The Lost Symbol was developed, Universal ultimately opted to go with Inferno next.

As filming is now underway in Italy with a script by David Koepp, Howard has been sharing a few set images throughout the week, with today’s photo offering our clearest look yet at Hanks and Jones in character. The film also stars Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, and Sidse Babett Knudsen. Inferno opens in theaters on October 14, 2016.

Saw this last night. I always enjoy these movies but the last 2 were better than this one. It was enjoyable though, it had great moments of suspense and a great twist that caught me off guard. I hope they make the next one into a movie too.
