Yeah that shit just went full retard.

Watching the new trailer, the house explosion would have been the perfect way to kill Paul Walker's character. Spending 6 movies, and that entire trailer jibbering about family, only to have Brian (and I'm assuming his wife/Torreto's sister) written out of the show doesn't track.

The GOT chick is gorgeous, that's all I got.

Wylde must be thrilled, Kickpuncher is the big bad this time.

YES! When the OG house went boom, I was like "hey that's the perfect way to write Brian out" then two seconds later there's Brian talking about their new mission. Talk about a missed opportunity, now we gotta pretend his brothers are him.

Absolutely, she needs more leading roles. GORGEOUS.

Well that explosion was clearly early on in the movie and they'd already filmed a ton of stuff with him, so much that they weren't just gonna scrap it.

I though they should have had him die in a gun fight protecting Mia , and then the next movie could have been them going balls to the wall to get vengeance.

But they decided not to go the route of killing his character off.

And yeah that trailer looks like they just dug up Sir Isaac Newton and skull fucked his corpse.

A movie is made in the editing room. Move the explosion to the end of the first act, killing Brian, thus propagating the whole family/vengeance angle. Would have added some genuine sentiment to push the series forward.

Except now, any future movies we get, it'll be (Dom) "you never turn your back on family, except Brian and Mia. We need help, but they don't believe in that family shit, despite what we've done together over the past decade. We're all in over our heads, but there's no need for them to help. It's not their style".

Killing Brian pushes the franchise forward. Anything else is a cop-out and leaves a glaring plot-hole that flies in the face of everything they've tried to build over the previous 6 films.

I agree with the bit about that paints them into a corner with explaining away why Brian wouldn't come out of whatever hiding in order to help them out, but considering how he died, in a car crash at high speeds in an explosion, how the fuck are they going to write him out of the movie without coming off as incredibly tone deaf and crass?

I think they were fucked no matter how it went, because someone will complain no matter how they handle it.  There'll be some that think they should have scrapped it entirely and rewrote it, there's some that think they should kill him off, others think that would be over the line, etc.

I think, if Paul Walker (or Vin) was ever thrown a hypothetical along the lines of "let's say, God forbid, you unfortunately passed away, or were injured to the extent you could never play the character again. What would you want to happen to your character in future installments?"

I guarantee you, he would have said "kill the character". No two ways about it. He fucking loved these films, put everything he had into them, and new how important Brian and Dom were to them.

Brian parting ways and never coming back when the chips are down makes absolutely no fucking sense, and is a complete insult to fans that have pumped over a $Billion into this franchise over the years.

Sure, he died. It was sad. It sucked. It's still sad. It still sucks.

The only other thing to do would have been wrap the film, and never make another one. That would have been respectful, but they're not doing that. They've signed up for 3 more, so they're obviously not too hurt to carry on without him. They took the publicly-correct way out to appease the touchy-feely's and judgmental press.

The could make 10 more after this one, but I don't care. After 7,  I won't watch another one until they have the balls to kill Brian.

UFC Champion Ronda Rousey Defends Her World Title, Talks Furious 7
Furious 7 ($1,511,516,643) Ronda_10

The bantamweight champion takes on Cat Zingano in UFC 184 Saturday, and will appear in the action sequel alongside Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson in April UFC world champion, Olympic medalist, Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue model and Hollywood action star – there doesn’t seem to be anything that Ronda Rousey can’t do.

As she prepared to defend her bantamweight title in UFC 184 on Saturday at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, Rousey happily talked to the media about everything from MMA fighting to enjoying enforced drug tests and her blossoming film career.

Rousey, 28, has become known as a force to be reckoned with in the Octagon and enters the fight against Cat Zingano 10-0, having won eight out of 10 of her fights with an inescapable judo-style arm lock.

She made her big screen debut last year in “Expendables 3,” and 2015 will see her play herself in the “Entourage” movie, as well as starring alongside the late Paul Walker in “Furious 7.”

“I met him — he was a very sweet and kind person and [I wish] all my best to his family,” she said at a press conference Thursday when asked about the actor who died in a car crash in November 2013.

Weighing in at 135-pounds, the 5’7″ blonde has been credited for turning the spotlight on women’s MMA fighting and there’s no doubt that her success on the big screen has helped attract new fans to the sport. “I definitely think the audience for MMA has expanded as a lot of people watching are first-time buyers of the pay-per-view,” she told reporters.

“I believe I’ve got to hustle to get as much attention to the sport as possible,” she said, adding that she’s considering acting again soon. “I’ve got a couple of interesting options after this fight, but first I am going to concentrate on beating Cat.”

Instead of choosing between acting and MMA, Rousey believes she is “capable of doing all of it. I prioritize fighting first, and when there’s gaps in my schedule I shift my focus to something else.”

Fortunately her two chosen professions do sometimes collide, such as while filming “Expendables 3.” “Jason Statham was kind enough to come keep me company when I training one day. I’d been away for a while and missed the presence of my coach standing there next to me when I hit the bag,” she recalled. “He was an absolute sweetheart.”

Fans of the “Fast and the Furious” films can expect to see Rousey return after the upcoming seventh film, which has a release date of April 3. “I only had 10 days and they wrote something in for me … so you really got to meet my character and I expect to hear from her further down in the franchise,” she said

While she appears to take every fight easily in her stride – such as knocking out Alexis Davis in just 16 seconds in her last matchup, “Rowdy” Rousey’s biggest challenge of late was not freezing while shooting the recent Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. “The best lighting is when the sun is rising and when it is setting, which is when it is freezing, so I was chilled to the bone at the end of the day,” she recalled of the skimpy shoot.

Yes yes, my goddess defends her title again tonight for the fifth time. No doubt in my mind, The Cat is going to tap.

Glad to hear that her character could come back and she wasn't burned off like Carano in 6.

Yeah, I wasn't wrong, Rousey made Cat tap in FOURTEEN seconds in the first round to her signature armbar. Seriously they always know it's coming and yet nobody can stop it.

Ronda Rousey Busts Interviewer’s Ribs After He Says She ‘Can’t Compete With a Man’

They don’t call her “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey for nothing.

MMA Prime personality Aaron Tru told the professional fighter during an interview that he didn’t think she had the strength necessary to “compete with a man” — and he was way off.

Rousey performed a judo throw that left Tru laid out on the floor and moaning, “I felt my ribs break.”

According to Tru’s video description, the stunt left him with “four busted ribs.”

Rousey is an Olympic-level judo competitor in addition to being a UFC champion. She won bronze in the 2008 Games in Beijing and took gold in the 2007 Pan American Games. She most recently defended her UFC title in just fourteen seconds versus Cat Zingano.

Rousey has also made forays into acting. She appeared in “The Expendables 3, and will next be seen in “Furious 7″ and “The Entourage Movie.”
“Is this a genuine reaction?” Rousey asked Tru. “I’m sorry.”

I fucking love it. I don't know how many of these dumb bastards are going to keep telling her that she can't compete with the men. That guy deserved the broken ribs for being so fucking stupid and purely arrogant. Some guys just need to learn the hard way. Back when UFC started getting popular around '06 there were frat boys saying dumb shit to the male MMA fighters about not being tough enough and getting knocked out. Happened a lot more back in the early days but it looks like it's gonna be awhile before the ladies get more respect. On another note, I love her even more.

Well it was clearly a setup. The dude's smiling and she's smiling in the beginning, they know what's coming.  Dude's gonna pretend to be the sexist pig host and she's gonna "put him in his place".  She barely even did anything to him, so I'm calling set up.

I have no doubt she could wreck shop on some dudes out there in her weight class, but she'd also probably get fucked up bad by some guys out there too.

You clearly have no concept of a judo throw or just how much fucking force is put into them. She has a nasty judo throw that I've seen her use many many times on men and women and that is nearly always the reaction, though usually they don't break like glass but still just because she's a woman doesn't mean she's not strong as hell and capable of real pain infliction. I know she could kick my ass so I wouldn't even try. Cool

Here's a slowed down demo where she throws another big guy around like a rag doll

‘Furious 7’ Peels Out With Huge $15.8 Million at Thursday Box Office

“Furious 7” roared off the line with a franchise-best $15.8 million at the box office in early Thursday night showings.

The haul from screenings that began at 7 p.m. in 3,069 theaters is Universal’s best ever and blows the doors off the the $6.5 million taken in by “Fast and Furious 6” on its way to $97 million opening that drove a Memorial Day weekend record in 2013.

It’s also well ahead of the $10.2 million rung up by “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which set the record for an April opening at this time last year with $95 million, and the $8.6 million taken in by “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which currently ranks as 2015’s top opener after its $86 million Presidents Day weekend debut.

The highly anticipated hot car sequel is heading for more than $115 million over the weekend say industry analysts, which would top both of those marks. And the $2.2 million generated in IMAX theaters by “Furious 7” is the third-highest Thursday night gross ever, behind only “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Iron Man 3.”

With the other studios steering clear, “Furious 7” will have the marketplace largely to itself as it rolls into a saturation-level 4,004 theaters Friday. It is also debuting in more than 63 overseas markets, and took in nearly $17 million in its first day of release abroad, the studio reported.

Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and newcomer Jason Statham top the multi-ethnic ensemble cast and James Wan has taken over as director of “Furious 7,” but it is the presence of the late Paul Walker that has kicked excitement into overdrive for many fans.

Walker’s death along with his friend Roger Rodas in a fiery auto crash in November 2013 forced UniversaL to postpone the film’s rollout, originally set for last July. The studio needed time to replace the 40-year-old star — CGI images and brothers Cody and Caleb will stand in — who appeared as cop-turned-street racer Brian O’Conner in all but one of the six previous “Fast and Furious” films.

Djimon Hounsou and Kurt Russell are also new faces in the “Furious 7” cast, which includes returnees Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges and Lucas Black. Chris Morgan wrote the script, as he has for every film in the series.

Neil Moritz, Legendary Pictures chief executive Thomas Tull and Diesel are the producers of “Furious 7,” which has the biggest production budget of any film in the series at $190 million.

‘Furious 7′ Shifts Into High Gear With $68M Friday And May Hit $150M

It’s systematic. Hydromatic. Automatic. After burning rubber on Thursday night, Furious 7 came in right about where we had estimated last night as we thought it might edge between $148M and $150M with Universal Pictures thinking this AM that its greased lighting in a bottle could push to $149.5M. Others are thinking, depending on today’s moviegoing, it could race past $150M. It had a Friday night of between $67M and $68M (with $15.8M of that from its Thursday preview). While the nation’s top grossing theaters were in New York and Texas (see below for the specific locations), the smaller markets (many of those that Rentrak doesn’t cover) are also doing gangbuster business.

It is already breaking all sorts of records (see below) and if the street racing picture holds to only a 25% drop today and tonight, we are looking at the James Wan-directed installment edging ever so close to the title of largest pre-summer bow; 2012’s Hunger Games currently holds that crown with $152.5M. The success of furious beast may push the year-to-year box office up around 36% to 39% from last year which, itself, was up 8% from 2013.

Last weekend’s Top Ten moved down a notch after that. As more estimated come in this AM, Disney’s fairy tale Cinderella and Lionsgate’s The Divergent Series: Insurgent are still too close to call for the No. 4 spot. However, Home, which took No. 1 last weekend, is expected to drop 47% for second place to gross about $27.8M, while the comedy Get Hard is losing its strength to drop 60% for $13.5M. More to come as more estimates roll in.

The other opener is Woman in Gold which should bring in $1.8M for the weekend for The Weinstein Co. after a seventh place showing on only 258 screens. Noteworthy is the Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts comedy While We’re Young which will end up with a per screen average of about $13K in limited release of only 34 locales.

Here’s the chart but numbers and positions will likely change in the morning.
1).  Furious 7 (UNI), 4,004 theaters / $67M to $68M Fri. / 3-day cume: $149.5M to $152M / Wk 1
2). Home (FOX/DW), 3,801 theaters (+93) / $11.4M Fri. / 3-day cume: $27.8M (-47%) / Total cume: $95.7M to $96.1M / Wk 2
3). Get Hard (WB), 3,212 theaters (+37) / $4.8M to $5M Fri. / 3-day cume: $13.5M (-60%) / Total cume: $57.6M / Wk 2
4/5). Cinderella (DIS), 3,404 theaters (-411) / $4.1M Fri. / 3-day cume: $9.6M to $11M / Total cume: $167M / Wk 4

I'm not surprised! This may very well be the most successful one yet in terms of BO.

Who's going to check it out by the way? I'm conflicted, it's $5 every Tuesday for me so....I don't know.

I will if I get a day off work (rain day etc). I only go to the cinema on a normal weekday. Never a weekend, public holiday, or school holidays.

$384 million worldwide on only its third day, expect at least ten of these films for sure now. It's no longer just plans after an opening weekend like this.

Content contains visual spoilers, but it's not like an FF flick really has soilers. Especially this one.

Has there ever been a franchise where this was more true?

$800 million in only 10 days, I think this again proves what TDKR first showed us, when a lead actor dies, the box office of their final film explodes.

Not yet, and the way work is planned, I won't get a chance to. Will have to wait for Blu-Ray (which I've already pre-ordered).

I was gonna see it but then I decided that this is absolutely a movie I could wait years to see because it's a Fast and Furious movie.

However if you bastards come back here and tell me that my beloved Ronda Rousey is in a substantial portion of the movie as well as Nathalie Emmanuel, I may move up my viewing by a considerable amount.

Word on Rhonda is, with only a few lines, she's been given the hnour of worst acting in the entire franchise.

Incredible! So it's confirmed that there will be another one? I was hoping this one would be the last no matter how much money they made. Haven't seen it yet but story wise and with everything that happened to Paul, it makes sense to stop it here. 7 is the lucky number after all.
