Yeah that DEFINITELY sucks.

I used to have a massive collection of international DVDS. Shit from Russia, Germany, France, Thailand, Spain, China, Japan, etc, etc and the Ps3 wouldn't play most of them. So what's the rules here regarding nudity, etc, with images? Was considering posting in the "Goddesses of the Screen" thread, but the specific images I wanted to post had some boobage/nipple action in them.

I realise my very username is an indicator, but the offense one takes from what a person reads, and what a person sees, can vary greatly.

Don't get me wrong, it's not porn. Matter of fact, it's promo material for the movie she made - but it's still nakedness (and hot as fuck!). Is that cool?

While it doesnt bother me at all, there are statements all over this site on my end that posting of adult material can result in the immediate deletion of the forum. So I think to be on the safe side we shouldn't.

Is $65 dollars a good value for Amarzon Prime?

I do not buy much from Amarzon now because I hate looking for random things I don't need just to pad a $35 order for free shipping. Obviously, if I purchase Amarzon Prime I will technically be paying for shipping on all my items with the $65 spread out over all my orders. I'm sure I will order more often if I had Prime.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm wondering if I should get on this.

How are you getting it for $65?  It was $79 until last year and now it's $99 a year.  You getting the college discount or something?

oh, no, I'm getting it for $99 but I'm just using my own twisted logic to "pretend" I'm getting it for $65.

I need to purchase TurboTax which costs $90. But if you have Prime, the cost for TurboTax is $55. That's a $35 savings. I'm just applying that $35 to what Amarzon Prime would cost normally and pretending I'm going to purchase the TurboTax full price. : )

It doesn't matter if I get Amarzon Prime or not. Either way, I must get TurboTax. I'm just wondering if I should pay $90 for just TurboTax or pay $155 for both TurboTax and a full year of Amarzon Prime.

Last year, I paid $50 for TurboTax Deluxe Federal and State. Now, in order to deal with rental property and investments, TurboTax is forcing users to purchase the Premium version. Last year almost 10 million of our customers (out of 28M) prepared their return using multiple TurboTax solutions, which for some caused confusion and frustration as a result of the different functionality. We put off this change for over 5 years, but couldn't defer it any longer. The changes we implemented this year on desktop were already part of the other TurboTax platforms. While this may be irrelevant to you, it will become an issue for many others in the future as most customers will eventually prepare their return on multiple devices (prepare on one device, review on another and maybe even file from another).

In other words, instead of just making all the software the same and keeping the price the same, we decided to strip out all the relevant items that make "Deluxe" what it is and essentially make "Deluxe" the basic package so we can milk more money out of current users and potential customers.

I seriously hope people read the Amarzon reviews and kick TurboTax to the curb.

I would be fine if they just said "Sorry, guys, but we gotz to raise da prices. Costs be going up, y0." But they are just insulting our intelligence with BS excuses and by reading the Amarzon reviews, they definitely succeeded in annoying a decent population of users.

Yeah, I don't support it and can't afford it neither. I'm sticking with H&R Black this year. Maybe TurboTax will rethink their changes and fix it for next year.

By the way, joey, you were the one who helped me out last year with the tax stuff and got me to try out TurboTax. We used to go to a professional but not anymore. I filed a bunch of my family's tax returns last year so just wanted to say thanks for that because I didn't forget. Very Happy

I'm glad you rocked it.

By just paying $25-$35 (H&R Block software sale on Amarzon now thanks to Groodawgz) you can potentially save hundreds of dollars depending on how many returns you do.

By the sounds of it, you are probably saving your family like six hundred dollars or more assuming you did three and each would cost $200+ if you went to a preparer.

I am unsure about H&R Block in person but the software received good reviews so I'm going with it. It is likely the same as TurboTax with just differences in user interface. The end result should be the same.

Yeah what's up with that? I tried logging in yesterday to get my tax return info from last year which I paid for as part of my service last year and was notified that I do not yet have access and wont for another several weeks at least.

Wylde, I ain'tz be sure about your problem. I don't know if it has anything to do with the bullshit they are pulling with their software. Hehe maybe they are updating all their online servers with the new price-gouging prices.

You should keep a softcopy on your PC. I wouldn't trust a website with storage of such sensitive information no matter how established they are.

Okay, just went through the HR Block software and it does look a little funky. TurboTax is definitely more intuitive. And I notice some depreciation isn't calculating consistently from prior years' returns. Will definitely have to look into this further. January 8 will have an update to the software so I will wait.

So I ordered a Kindle HDX 8.9" Tablet from Amazon, right?  I'm no longer Amazon Prime and don't order much of anything from Amazon since then.

Amazon has a promo thing where you order a Kindle HDX Tablet and you can have the payments split up.  No interest rates, none of that nonsense, it just takes the price and splits it into 5 payments. One when you order it and they ship it, and then equal payments over the next 4 months.

Due to not being Prime anymore they take their sweet fucking time when it comes to processing and preparing the items to be shipped.  My buddy ordered one from my computer on his account (with prime) and his processed and shipped in about 24 hours.  I ordered December 31st and it STILL hasn't been prepared or anything.

So I contacted Amazon and said how frustrated I was and that I could have just cancelled and ordered from Ebay and they upgraded my shipping to 1 day shipping, meaning I'll have it delivered on Monday.

Huzzah! Complaining works!

I suppose. I mean I definitely agree with the 1st part there.  However if a company is fucking with people, it stands to reason the customer should be expected to voice their concerns.

I did mention to the person I talked to that A. I realized it wasn't HIS fault, he was the lowly person tasked with dealing with irate customers. I've been there so I am very respectful about it. And B. that I don't like to complain about things, I just felt that this had gone on for awhile now and something should be said.  I've placed orders and shit didn't even get processed/prepared for shipping until a WEEK LATER in some instances.  But as a prime member, that shit is processed within 12 hours, sometimes it's processed within the half hour.

I'm fairly non confrontational so I tend to put up with shit for WAY longer than I imagine most people would.  Much easier than me having to get into some back and forth, and if the other person is a douchebag about it, that just makes me feel like shit even worse because I just hate dealing with people.

But I do think that voicing cocerns, not necessarily "complaining", is a valuable weapon to be used.  Sadly people abuse that and just complain about any/everything just to get a few bucks savings or whatever.

It's a bit different because it's an online thing, but fucking A in stores people will throw bitchfits about anything to try to save money, it's so fucking annoying.

That being said, Amazon has always been all over the place for me, sometimes things are prepared and shipped super fast, sometime it takes like weeks. While Prime NOW includes all the streaming stuff, it used to be all about expedited/"free" shipping, so if they gave that to everyone, WTF would the point of Prime be?

Well I think that the person I talked to initially had the same view you did (re the shipping). I didn't have a problem with the shipping speed.  Non-Prime CLEARLY is going to get slower shipping. I knew that going in, so I had no problem with THAT.

My problem stemmed from them not even processing/preparing the item at all to even BE shipped.  As a Prime member that shit was quickly passed on to those who prepare/process it for being shipped out and it was NEVER more than a day (from my 4 years as a Prime member).

Since I let that lapse back in October, there's been many times when an order will just sit there constantly saying "not yet shipped" which means "the order has not been addressed in any way/shape or form".  Now they don't charge you until they start that process, but as I said one order sat there for a fucking week (non holiday time) before it finally got shipped out.

I did tell them that it felt like this was an intentional thing in order to push people to subscribe to Prime, which I felt was kind of unfortunate. 

I get having faster shipping for Prime members, that's what it's for beyond all the bells & whistles now, but the PROCESSING/PREPARING aspect was never mentioned as a benefit, so it was kind of frustrating.

Oh and I'm NEVER that asshole guy that screams and throws a fit.  I've worked too much in retail to ever do that to someone else, having had that done to me.  Also it's just a dick thing to do.

You get more flies with honey, as they say.  If I'm an asshole, it's easy for the person to just say "Sorry, move along".  If you're respectful and just explain your views, you may get your issues addressed better.

I didn't even expect them to give me 1 day shipping or anything, more to that "We'll send a note to get this processed and out to you".

Amazon has very good customer service, I'll say that.  Never had a problem with their customer service people.

I've read threads where people would pre-order blu-rays on Amarzon and then as soon as the price drops, they get on the chat with an Amarzon representative and have them manually lower the price. A few times the system "glitches" and, due to the pre-order price guarantee, the price will be reduced again resulting in a "double-dip discount". A few users noticed this happened the first time so they started to make a habit of doing it every time. They know the pre-order price guarantee takes a couple of days to kick in but they want to game the system and sometimes, sadly, it works. Scumbag moves.

I, on the other hand, have totally legit reasons to complain to Amarzon. Ship me a blu-ray without a mint slipcover? Fuck you. Complaint inbound.

In the case of Prime, I lump in the processing with the shipping. It's a premium service. Prime stuff gets attended to immediately. With all the people with Prime now, I'm not at all surprised it's taking longer for non-Prime orders.

I'm not hating on you or your interaction. Like I said, of course I don't like companies fucking with people, but I also really hate that "complaining works" mentality. I do my best to shut it the fuck down at work.

Ah, see, I never even thought that the processing was tied into shipping.  I just assumed that everything was processed equally, only the prime stuff would get to you in 2 days for free via UPS/Fed Ex/Etc and everything else would go the slow boat to China (no offense Twink) via USPS.
