Not familar with this one's story in the comic.
But I've seen a pic and they've stuck closely to the look.

They got the look and costume thing down. He looks exactly like that in the comics too. Impressive!

I'm bummed that Benedict is Strange cause I thought he'd make a great Edward Nygma.

I could see that after him playing Sherlock. I don't know if he's crazy enough for that though.
Marvel is getting a lot of actors at this point. Don't know what DC will have left in the future. lol!

I just wanted to hear Cumberbatch struggle to say "Penguin" again.

AWESOME! This is exactly what I expected it to look like. Getting a lot of vibe from the animated movie that came out.

Yep. A character that belongs firmly on the pages of a comic book.
I'll wait for the sub-$10 Blu-ray.

So it's not just me. I can't even get motivated enough to watch the trailer. I've had less than zero interest since announcement but I thought everyone else was excited for this.

I guess I'm the only one excited for this. You couldn't have picked a better actor to play Strange. Trailer looks amazing and it's going to be great to see what Marvel does with this movie. I'm more excited for this than I am for Thor 3, Kong or King Arthur.

Going by the trailer, what Marvel is going to do is have a dude stand in front of a lot of green screen saying "abracadabra", whilst the fate of the world, via New York, is on the line. Again. The last 40 minute will be a race against time and a frantic action packed event that no one will have any vested interest in, because it's a bunch of computer graphics wrapped around a dude that uses magic.
Have you ever watched a movie with magicians/wizards etc that fight? It's fucking tedious. They don't even throw punches. The just flick imaginary bullshit at each other.
You can watch this one all on your lonesome Abe.

I'll take it. This ain't no Harry Potter shit, man. I like Doctor Strange and I'm impressed how they were able to bring him to life exactly as he is in the comic books. That's one thing Marvel KNOWS how to do. It's a great origin story even without all the magic. And CGI is in most movies nowadays anyway, you can't put that against this movie. Come on!

Harry Potter was fucking amazing. You know why? Because the fate of the world wasn't being fought in New York after 90 minutes of being introduced to the character.

Will Arnett joked during the SDCC coverage that he thought Doctor Strange was about a guy who liked anonymous hookups so much he got a PhD in Strange, and demanded he be called Doctor. That premise seems so much better than the reality...

This is a superhero movie, of course you're going to have to deal with "saving the city/world" concept. This is what most superhero movies are, Russ. I get it, you're tired of superhero movies and that's cool. But I wouldn't say this movie looks bad or boring.

Re: Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) (November 4, 2016)
Went and saw this and it was definitely a fun movie. It gave me the same vibe that Guardians of the Galaxy gave me, it was entertaining. It was also similar to the animated movie in some cases but not entirely. Benedict was perfect as Doctor Strange. Tilda Swinton killed it as The Ancient One, she was pretty awesome in this. She's always playing characters you can't recognize her in. Mads Mikkelsen was great but he wasn't that great of a villain. Rachel McAdams was beautiful and funny. Chiwetel Ejiofor was awesome but wasn't in it as much, I wish he played a bigger part in the movie. Special effects were incredible and it's a lot like Inception and then some. Overall, it was a good enjoyable movie. Look forward to seeing more of Strange in the future Marvel movies. That first end scene credit has me curious about where he might be going next.
