X-Men: Apocalypse ($533,914,070)

Bryan Singer tweeted tonight that Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner and Tye Sheridan will suit up for X-Men: Apocalypse, the next installment in the ever-growing Fox franchise. The filmmaker said Shipp will mutate into Storm, Turner is Jean Grey and Sheridan has his eye on Cyclops. In November, A Most Violent Year star Oscar Isaac was cast as the pic’s main villain. Singer is back as director, helming a script by Simon Kinberg from a story written by Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.

Nice to see the very quickly becoming quite gorgeous Sophie branching out. Tye Sheridan's name has been attached to every teen role since Mud but over the last year has really started rising through the ranks. Can't say I am familiar with Shipp though.

I'm only familiar with Sophie of course. Haven't seen Mud yet. So...will hold off judgement until the movie but I think they'll do a great job playing the young X-Men.

I really liked Tye in the movie Joe with Nic Cage, he just turned 18 and he's already got more than a half dozen movies in various stages of production right now. So expect to become very familiar with this kid over the next few years, cause he's going to be everywhere.

Not only can he act but he's quite diverse to. He's got a lead role in Dark Places with Charlize Theron and Chloe Moretz, in which he plays a 16-year-old brother accused of molesting a group of girls and murdering his family, then he's got Scouts vs. Zombies, the story is about three high school Boy Scouts who must use their skills to battle vicious zombies after their small town faces a zombie outbreak. But those are just two of the many films he's always wrapped.

That was his debut film at 12 years old, he beat something like 10k other kids out for that role. I HATED that movie with the passion of a thousand dying suns but it had nothing to do with the acting and everything to do with the fact that Malick is a pretentious cunt.

I didn't realise that until just now. Forgot Malick's flick took a few years to get finished and released. I'd considered Mud his first, going by release dates, but Malick fucked around for years on ToL.

The fact that a twelve year old was able to hold his own against a heavyweight like Brad Pitt in a pretty hard role, was impressive. It was the same thing with Hailee Steinfeld and Jeff Bridges in True Grit, I thought she was fantastic. Now she's the same age as Tye and both of these kids are starting to land role after role. They seem to complete the films quickly and quietly but then there's just gonna be a big roll out with several releases in a handful of months and a star is born. That's what happened with Jennifer Lawrence, now she only does Oscar bait.....and old musicians.

Rose Byrne to Return for ‘Apocalypse’

Rose Byrne will be reprising her role as Moira MacTaggert in “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

Byrne joins a group of newcomers who will play the younger versions of Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm.

“She’s a significant character in the movie,” “X-Men: Apocalypse” screenwriter Simon Kinberg told EW. “We ended ‘First Class’ with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them.”

Byrne’s CIA agent was first introduced in “X-Men: First Class” as the love interest of James McAvoy’s Professor X. Kinberg said their relationship will be “mined more” in this installment.

Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult will also return, while Oscar Isaac will enter the franchise as the titular comicbook villain.

However, Patrick Stewart has confirmed that he and fellow first generation mutant Ian McKellen won’t appear in the upcoming film as it’s set in the 1980s and explores the earlier lives of the characters.

Kinberg also said that “Apocalypse” will wrap up certain “First Class” character arcs.

“This movie is the completion of the first arcs of Charles, Eric, Raven, and Hank, who are essentially our main characters,” he said. “They’re such young actors and young characters, so there’s a lot more story to tell. But as a first phase of their lives, there is this feeling of closure by the end of the movie.”

I think this will be the last X-Men for a while probably besides Wolverine. There are no other X-Men projects after this, right? Anyway, should they continue, they could bring back Rebecca Romijn if they wanted a grown up Mystique.

I'd like to think so but I doubt it, they cast so many young stars to portray the original cast as teens for this, I think they're gonna keep cranking em out. Along with Logan and Deadpool. Expect the sequels to continue.

Newcomer Lana Condor Joins As 'Jubilee'

You might have figured this movie had its fill of mutants by now, but Bryan Singer has just announced the latest addition to the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse. Newcomer Lana Condor will play Chinese-American plasmoid blasting teenager, Jubilee. This won't be the first time this character has appeared in an X-flick, though she was never given much screen time: Katrina Florence played her in X-Men, followed by Kea Wong in X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand. As for Condor, there is literally no information on the young actress to be found online, so we'll have to keep you updated on that.

Singer Reveals Running Time For DAYS OF FUTURE PAST 'Rogue Cut'

Despite being a major financial and critical success for the studio, Fox still felt plenty of pressure from fans when it was announced that a major sub-plot involving Rogue would be completely dropped from last year's X-Men: Days of Future Past. The major sequence of this plot would involve a jailbreak in the future timeline to save Rogue from a Sentinel compound, which would apparently involve more action for Patrick Stewart's Professor X and Ian McKellen's Magneto. However, the announcement that the sequence would be brought back to life for the extended blu-ray release of the film, dubbed the 'Rogue Cut', had many wondering just how much it would add to the movie.

Luckily for fans, Empire Online has obtained specific details about the extended release via BBFC, revealing that the Rogue Cut will have a running time of 142 minutes and 37 seconds. This clocks in at 11 minutes and 11 seconds longer than the cut that was released in theatres. Clearly the sequence was a major part of the movie, and given that she was used heavily in the initial marketing, it makes sense that Rogue's role was much more extensive than the glorified cameo she received in the theatrical version.

However, Bryan Singer also tweeted about the Rogue Cut, saying that it's even longer than Empire's report.

Regardless of the conflicting reports, it's good to see that Fox is willing to allow fans the chance to watch what should be the definitive version of the movie when the Rogue Cut launches later this year. The Rogue Cut still does not have a release date.

A few weeks ago, we heard Fox was actively looking to cast the role of Psylocke in their upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, and now, with production set to kick off shortly, it looks like they've finally found their actress. In an Instagram post, director Bryan Singer has announced that Olivia Munn will join the giant ensemble cast of the upcoming sequel to 2014's X-Men: Days Of Future Past as the telepathic Betsy Braddock a.k.a. Psylocke! This marks Munn's second foray into the comic book movie genre as she also had a small part in 2010's Iron Man 2. A few of her other recent projects include roles in Lionsgate's Mortdecai, HBO's The Newsroom, and NBC's Chuck.

I've been a Green Bay fan for over 20 years and I could care less if he really was gay or not, cause that boy can play football and that's all I care about.

Rumor: POCALYPSE and WOLVERINE 3 Will End Singer’s X-MEN Universe

After directing three X-Men movies and producing four, X-Men: Apocalypse and Wolverine 3 could mark the end of Bryan Singer’s X-Men universe. The news comes from El Mayimbe who posted the following on Instagram:

#RUMOR I’m being told that X-MEN: APOCALYPSE & WOLVERINE 3 will mark the end of the Bryan Singer X-MEN universe he started back in 2000. Makes sense since Hugh Jackman also said Wolverine 3 will be his last film playing Logan. The end of an era.

Does that mean it’s the end of Singer’s involvement in the film franchise or will Fox do a complete overhaul after those two films? We can’t be sure unless El Mayimbe clarifies, but it seems far more likely that it’s just that Singer is out, especially after the studio just recruited a whole batch of up-and-comers to play young versions of some very familiar mutants.

We know that The Wolverine 3 will mark Hugh Jackman’s last go as Logan and it’s also highly unlikely that Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender will return, but if Apocalypse does well, why not let folks like Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and Ben Hardy (Angel) take over? I’d like to bet they’ve got them all signed for multiple films anyway.

Hopefully we’ll get a little more clarification from Singer himself soon, but, in the meantime, what do you think? Would you like to see a soft reboot of sorts with the newer cast members?

I really hope they do finally end Singer's verse. I thought that was what we were getting with First Class but then they returned to Singer for the sequels. I would be more than fine if the franchise finally moves on with the younger class and actually stays with them for awhile. I want an X-Men universe without Singer's originals players and with Sheridan, Turner, Smit-McPhee and Munn, I'm on board to see what they're gonna bring to the franchise.

Though I hope we finally get to see Cyclops and Havoc together using their abilities together at some point. I'm also just looking forward to seeing someone else play Scott, since I have never been a fan of Marsden while Sheridan has already impressed me in several roles.
