Wes Ball Returning to Direct Third ‘Maze Runner’
Wes Ball has confirmed that he’s returning to direct “The Maze Runner: The Death Cure.”
Ball directed last year’s “The Maze Runner” and “The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,” which opens this weekend. The films are based on James Dashner’s dystopian science fiction series. Shooting for “The Death Cure,” the third and final film in the Fox franchise, is slated to begin in December.
“Ultimately our goal is to create an awesome three-movie trilogy,” Ball told Variety at Tuesday night’s red carpet premiere of “The Scorch Trials” in New York. “Not many people have done that and now I have the opportunity to do that. I am directing the third film and we’ve already been busy preparing and working on the final conclusion of this saga.”
Ball said his plan has always been to “do justice” to the books with a clear beginning, middle and end.
“We are setting up a lot of things that aren’t necessarily apparent in the second movie, but it will pay off big time in the third movie,” he added. “So that has been my approach and I’m glad that I can finish the series. I’m lucky and thankful that they asked me to direct all three films. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to do it or not, but honestly, it was the cast that I wanted to work with again. They are such great people.”
The films star Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee, Will Poulter and Patricia Clarkson.
“The Maze Runner” was a solid performer, sprinting toward $345 million at the worldwide box office. “The Death Cure” will hit theaters on Feb. 17, 2017.

Dylan and Kaya are at the top of just about every twenty something casting list list right now and they don't seem to be going away anytime soon.

That Kaya chick, only seen her in a recent version of Wuthering Heights.
She's engaged to Benjamin dude from Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Can't recall his last name , the ink is still wet on his Divorce from Mamie Gummer.
They were barely married for two years.

Kaya is engaged to Benjamin Walker? I completely forgot that guy even existed. At the time he was touted as being the next big thing, then Abe tanked and all of his future projects fell apart, two of them were massive projects that could have made him a huge star but instead he seems to have faded into obscurity. He is the only one of the four Abe leads who didn't end up landing with a future in this business. Though ditching Mamie for Kaya I definitely get, those Gummer girls look way too much like their mother and it scares me in an unpleasant way.
While Dylan O'Brien has been with Britt Robertson for years while his career is just starting to blow up and hers is imploding. Seems like this franchise has an odd effect on the significant others of its stars.

Walker is in Ron Howard's upcoming film Heart of the Sea.
Just agree, Walker was allover the place in 2012.
His stock plummeted after ALVH tanked opening weekend.
While his co-stars are working like crazy
Notably Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper.

That film was moved from a kush spot in awards season to being dumped in a dead zone and Hemsworth cannot open a movie without his Cape. I don't expect to see Walker again for another few years after that too inevitably fails.

That's not a good sign and unfortunate, Hemsworth can act.
Walker is currently filming a romantic drama, based on a Nicholas Sparks novel.
Welp, that window to Superstardom is closed.

I've seen three Hemsworth brothers act and they all seem to be right about the same level of depth to me.
Oh yeah Nick Sparks does nothing for careers. The one and only time it ever did was for McAdams and Gosling but they're the exception to the rule.

Yeah it was the opposite of Twins, they didn't just take all the leftovers and give it to the little brother. Looks like they were saving all the good genetics for the next two.

I saw this today and really enjoyed it. A little over two hours, but it wouldn't have been noticeable if I didn't have to pee. Was glad I didn't know about certain casting, made for some fun surprises.

Were Little Finger and Gus Fring some of those surprises?

Gus, yes. I still haven't seen Game of Thrones, had to google. I don't remember that guy getting the same set up as Gus and 2 others. Basically "You have to meet ______" "Who's _______?"

You never watched The Wire either??? Aiden Gillen was Mayor Tommy Carcetti for over 3 seasons.
Really looking forward to seeing this, HBO shows the first one like 30 times a day still so I've seen it 2-3 times over the last year.

Watched this last night. Nice action movie but very different than the first one. I didn't really know what they were fighting against in the first one and what the trials were about. This movie answers those questions. Peter from Game of Thrones, you just love to hate this guy. He makes it easy to hate him. lol!
Hated what a certain character did towards the end though. Make absolutely no fucking sense and it really pissed me off.
So, we got one more movie after this, right? I hope they didn't split the last movie into 2 parts.

Watched this last night and thought it was a solid successor to the first film and it really elevated the story and characters. I've seen the first movie probably half a dozen times so I'm curious to see how the Scorch holds up.
I was disappointed in the betrayal too because that was a favorite character of mine butnd they were foreshadowing it for quite some time so I could see it coming. I knew exactly what she'd done before Thomas even came to speak to her. However that twist really changed the stakes so without her betrayal we wouldn't have been set up for such a wild conclusion.

Watched this tonight and loved it. Very "Last of Us" I thought with the Cranks and some scenes. Can't wait for the 3rd one. The end "twist" was easy to see but still sucked.

Dylan's acting has gotten so much better between Maze movies. I think when Teen Wolf is done he's going to become a pretty big name.

I didn't see the twist coming. It's obvious that she was contemplating about something but I didn't think she'd make that choice. They should have left her there.

The moment she displayed her first seed of doubt I knew the betrayal was coming, it was inevitable.
I just watched Divergent Insurgent the other day on HBO and found Rosa Salazar playing another wasteland survivor in a franchise about a teen saving the world, she had to have filmed these movies back-to-back. I hadn't seen her since Parenthood 4 or 5 years ago so I found it amusing to find her playing characters like these twice in a month.

I caught both Divergents on HBO in a back-to-back deal for the first time. After all that hype I expected so much more, not a whole lot seemed to happen over that arc. Just another story about a 17 year old leading an apocalyptic revolution. Boring.
