Suggestions

Post by WyldeMan on 12/17/2014, 1:39 am

One idea I've been thinking of is right now I kind of use the thread colors for the more popular shows but would you prefer I used just one color, say red to draw attention to big new updates in the threads or just stick to putting an announcement in the title?

I think announcements in the title are fine. But I do have one suggestion:

When you put an announcement on the title, for example if you update something like this

The Suicide Squad (08/05/16) (AMANDA WALLER HAS BEEN CAST)

can you also put whatever update you put in the thread title also in the first post permanently or temporarily? I mean, sometimes I'll miss a thread for a day or so and due to the popularity of the thread, there can be upwards of 20 or 30 new posts by the time I see the thread. Then I have to search through x amounts of posts or pages to find whatever it was in the updated thread title. Again, as an example, if The Suicide Squad was a massive thread like Superman vs Batman, I'd have to search back like two or three pages just to find out who was cast as Amanda Waller.

I think if something is big enough to warrant a thread title update, that information should be put in the first post and then we can continue discussing the big news normally in the thread.

So you want the old format where I listed all the actors names in the title too?

Well, I definitely don't want to title to be overly cumbersome. I just mean sometimes there is big news about a movie. As an example, say a scene gets cut or something. I know sometimes you'll update the title to mention "Key scene cut, people are pissed" and then I'll miss that for a while and you guys are all discussing the scene but I'll have to search back, sometimes quite far, to see the news article you or anyone posted regarding the cut scene.

It would be easier if that big news was also included in the first post so that it can make it easier for us to just see the big news article before reading through pages of comments discussing it. Oftentimes the first post is never updated past the first time it is posted. But the title is updated very often cuz you guys know your stuff.

Edit: Just a minor request on my part. If this is inconvenient then just disregard. tongue

Color of threads doesn't bother me but I'd put it all the same color for simplicity. It's not hard to find threads with the search function anyway.

I hate the formatting of posts. On the old forum you could just cut/paste a blog post and it would copy all the formatting.

Here (unless I've just missed it) it does not, and it is a pain in the ass posting articles here.

Yes, it is. It's kind of a fucking nightmare to copy post and format articles. It's been a never ending battle with every single article I've posted and that's already hundreds of them...takes so long and always leaves the html coding in the post.

IF you go to your profile, and click on preferences, there's an option to allow HTML. It's usually set to OFF by default, I think.

So we have Movies, TV, Gaming & General forums - Can we get a "Media" forum? For Blu's (Steelbooks etc, certain disc particulars etc), Music, Comics etc

A media forum would be nice. Having a sub-forum for BD's would be nice.

Need I remind you of our highly active BD section on the old BDTV? Halfway down that page the threads all had 2013 dates, lol. We have always seemed to discuss the BD's in the movie threads themselves. But if you guys want that section I can create a new sub forum for them.

hehe I had to check if Wylde was right and, yes, he was correct that the threads halfway down had 2013 replies. If you decide to create one, you can always merge the threads with the respective discussions in TV and Movies if the section sees very little traffic.

Although, I do like how streamlined this forum is so far. Not too cluttered with tons of subforums. Either way you go with Rusty's idea is cool with me.

Rather than have a dozen different sub-forums for each category, just have one Media forum, sticky main topics. "what Blu-Ray did you buy", "Blu-Ray deals", the rest of that forum is for whatever ... "what are you reading", "what are you listening to" and so on. One forum for all of it as apposed to 10 rarely used sub-forums that only have 1 or 2 half-frequented topics.

Is there any way you can turn off those stupid "FYI" pages?

For example, when you make a post, a page comes up that says something to the effect of "Your post is posted". Or when you update your signature or avatar a page comes up that says "Your shit has been updated."

It's really annoying.

After you make a post, before it returns to the thread, it goes to an information page saying your post has been made. After about 2 seconds it automatically redirects back to the thread. First world problem. pirat

Did the HTML issue ever get figured out?

I've selected the "HTML always on" option in my preferences, but every thread I reply to still says HTML is off.

... and can we post Vines here? Tries with the HTML code, but that's when I noticed it was constantly off.

According to the chat archive I scanned through since December 13th, only me and Twinkie logged in and actually posted something. I thought everybody wanted the box but nobody was ever using it, we would have 8 people logged in at once and have at most 3 members posting for maybe 15 minutes. I didn't see much reason to keep it in such a prominent location while nobody used it. If you guys actually want to use it, I'll bring it back otherwise I don't see the point.

IS there a way to automatically have it turned on?  I bring the site up and the shit is logged out and I'm like "I don't wanna log in and no one be there." lol.

If it's automatically on and going when I go to this site, then I'd be more inclined to use it probably.
